Responsibilities and Duties:
We are seeking a highly organized Production Manager to oversee production processes and ensure the processes are conducted within budget and on time. The Production Manager will report directly to the General Manager. This is a hands-on position for a candidate with a passion for operational management and the ability to lead and motivate a team of up to 30 people on the shop floor. The Production Manager will provide direct supervision of manufacturing personnel, assist in creating production schedules, train new employees, schedule regular maintenance for equipment, ensure all health and safety protocols are adhered to, and monitor use and replenishment of required materials. Additionally, the Production Manager will be responsible for product quality and minimizing scrap and rework.
Requirements:
- Background in upfitting Class 6-8 vocational truck equipment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Welding/fabrication skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair basic issues with plant equipment.
- 12-volt electrical background with ability to trouble-shoot.
- Pneumatic circuit plumbing experience.
- Strong hydraulic fluid power background.
- Supervisory responsibility includes, but is not limited to, training and developing subordinates, delegating work assignments, writing and conducting performance appraisals, coaching, and counseling employees, and administering disciplinary procedures up to and including Written Warnings.
- Supervise and direct work activity of Leads in assigned area. Distribute workload appropriately. Motivate and empower subordinates. Develop subordinates including, but not limited to, constructing and executing development plans.
- Ensure quality standards are met that emphasize and focus on continuous improvement in an effort to improve manufacturing capability and reduce rework and scrap.
- Perform capacity analysis using build plans. Determine staffing requirements for the assigned production area. Ensure that departmental productivity targets are met to meet customer requirements. Troubleshoot scheduling and material issues.
- Promote and enforce compliance of safety policies and procedures. Conduct safety investigations and audits. Address safety non-compliance.
- Demonstrated teamwork and team building skills in producing results and meeting organizational objectives. Capable of assessing and developing individual and team skills and capabilities. Able to create and maintain enthusiasm for new and challenging goals. Serve as a role model by promoting new ideas and positive change.
- 10 years of shop level experience as a production fabricator, machine operator and/or fitter with understanding of quality systems i.e., technician, body upfitter and/or fabricator (install shop production manager).
- 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
