At JustFoodForDogs, we're on a mission to improve the length and quality of life for as many pets as possible. We're looking for an experienced Corporate Quality Specialist who has a growth mindset and is full of big ideas to help deliver on this mission for pets nationwide.

Job Title: Corporate Quality Specialist

SUMMARY

This role is key in creating, implementing, and managing our business systems that surround our retail kitchens, our customer complaint program, core metrology, and our auditing system for both internal and external audits. The corporate quality specialist will also ensure that there are best practices in place for change control and regulatory compliance with our retail kitchens and their related documentation. This position will work very closely with the vice president of quality assurance, the director of regulatory and compliance and with many other supply chain functions to create success within this quality position

WHAT YOU’D DO

- Work with the vice president of quality assurance to create, implement, and manage an auditing system for internal and external quality audits

- Monitor and adjust the quality and food safety systems as they relate to our retail kitchens, ensuring that change controls and timely updates are made when necessary

- This role with work on continuous improvement projects from around the supply chain when necessary

- Manage customer complaints and the complaint standard work, always working to improve

- Create and implement a metric system for us to measure quality performance across the enterprise, working directly with the compliance and document lead

- Build training documents and deliver training to all relevant personnel

- Work closely with the supplier and captive manufacturing teams to ensure specifications are appropriate for the retail kitchens

- Work with the broader quality team to develop test methods for all in-house attributes testing

- Role is the commercialization partner for quality assurance

- Part of the approval process for all packaging graphics, labels, and related materials

- Will take part in policy creation and refinement, keeping JustFoodForDogs’s positions on core ideals, yet improving our quality systems

- Other duties and initiatives as assigned

SKILLSET AND QUALITIES

Understands USDA, FDA Regulation, and AAFCO guidelines

Competency with document and record keeping systems, understands versioning controls, communication needs, and how to execute against them

Has a strong, prolific skill set around communication and training

Is competent and can demonstrate the ability to create and manage an auditing system

Must have superlative communication skills to drive fluency and understanding in the organization when there are changes that require action. Is effective at communicating with all levels of an organization in an honest, open, and in a constructive fashion

Understands what metrics matter, how to create a data source, use that data source, and present information in a fashion that engages and creates action

Demonstrated ability to deliver results with cross functional teams, with a proven track record of executing projects quickly and successfully

Understands all aspects of the business, industry, and competitive landscape. Distinguishes what is critical from what is important

Understanding of stage gate and innovation, understanding how the approval process, document controls, graphics review, and specification management need to integrate and take responsibility from this process

Willing to take realistic personal and business risks. Comfortable with ambiguity and influencing others to a greater comfort level – especially with supply chain partners

Acts with a sense of urgency and builds and adjusts the plan to deliver results that meet or exceed expectations

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor desired, minimum 5 years related experience and/or training.
