Jubilee Academies is Hiring a Teacher - Pre K Near Austin, TX

Job Description
Position Title: Pre - K Teacher - COMP ED

Position Salary and Funding: $50,246.00 annually / Exempt
***(This position is contingent upon annual grant funding from the ESEA, Title I, Part A – Improving Basic Programs – Fund 285.)
Position Hours: Full-Time, Monday-Friday
Length of Term/Employment: At-will / 190 work days
Reports to: Campus Principal

Position Mission: The Teacher promotes and develops successful instructions for all students, including at-risk students and performs related duties in accordance with District policies. The Teacher is responsible for group and individual instruction. The Teacher develops lessons with paraprofessionals, and measures student progress. The Teacher is also responsible for partnering with parents through collaboration, communication and training.

Position Qualifications:
  • Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Institute of higher learning.
  • Teaching certification from State Board for Educator highly desired
  • Must have taken and passed appropriate TExES/ExCET exam or have equivalent approved by TEA.
Job Duties & Instructional Strategies:
  • Implement a variety of assessment instruments to determine eligibility and instructional needs of at-risk students.
  • Provide a variety of situational appropriate instructional techniques and methods. Use techniques and methodologies appropriate to at-risk student abilities.
  • Assist in the planning and development of the Title I reading, math, or other targeted areas of need the school is addressing.
  • Assists staff in interpreting at-risk student needs and progress in reading, math and/or other targeted areas.
  • Regularly observes reading, math instruction and other targeted areas of need and helps staff improve at-risk student performance through the use of research-based strategies.
  • Implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of school curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  • Prepare emergency lesson plan folder to cover 2 days of material.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established to Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for SPED students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans.
  • Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
  • Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  • Participate in extended day and weekend school tutoring as required.
Student Growth and Development:
  • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Teach students to work toward self-discipline and responsibility.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
  • Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school.
  • Ensure good student discipline by being regular in attendance and on time.
Classroom Management and Organization:
  • Create a positive classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Maintain neat and orderly classroom.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Will use the discipline management plan to include but not limited to:
  • Ground rules, stated positively and posted so they may be easily seen.
  • A step process which includes reinforcement for appropriate on task behavior and consequences for inappropriate off-task behavior, which is posted at all times.
  • A lesson agenda, which models task organization and time management skills and insures total time planning in the classroom.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Communication:
  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, directors, and teachers.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Professional Growth and Development:
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
Other:
  • Work week schedule: Work day begins at 7:30 a.m.
  • Adheres to staff dress code.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with Jubilee Academies’ staff and parents.
  • Keeps Jubilee Academies School Assistant Director informed of maintenance problems.
  • Actively supports and participates in fundraising activities of Jubilee Academies.
  • Compile, maintain, and fill all reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Actively stays abreast of new developments in education.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • May supervise assigned teacher aide(s) or volunteers.
Charter & Community Responsibilities:
  • Convey the charter’s mission to the public and encourage support in accomplishing the mission.
  • Illustrate understanding of Charter and community needs and begin activities to meet those needs.
  • Demonstrate use of productive and efficient skills to raise community and parent involvement.
  • Actively participate in student recruitment efforts.

  • Promote fairness of students and staff from all cultural backgrounds.
  • Communicate with students and staff in an effective manner that promotes and sustains the Jubilee culture.

  • Stooping, bending, pulling and pushing required.
  • Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment and supplies.
