Joint Council For Economic Opportunity is Hiring a Center Support Teacher Near Malone, NY

JCEO is a private, not-for-profit human service agency that serves the residents of Clinton and Franklin Counties in New York State. All programs are based on JCEO's mission to alleviate poverty through practical, timely, and innovative services that emphasize and develop problem-solving skills for people.The Center Support Teacher supports center staff on a regular basis and is responsible for assuming the role of the teacher if they are absent.Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Location: On-Site
Hourly Rate of Pay: $15.00

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • As directed by the Education Services Manager, carries out goals, policies and activities in the Head Start Program Performance Standards.
  • Complies with all Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Under the supervision of the Education Services Manager, carries out daily programming and completes all activities as appropriate to daily placement.
  • Assists with curriculum planning, evaluation, and assists in the implementation of the centers routine as appropriate to placement site.
  • Observes confidentiality according to agency policy and performance standards.
  • Identifies and reports suspected child abuse as per Head Start procedure.
  • Assists the Nutrition Service area, in training parents about the appropriate use and preparation of food and its nutritional value.
  • When assigned, assists center staff in parent contact information. Communicates to families, in regard to scheduled events, or updating needed information.
  • Assists centers with In Kind collecting procedures and organizing visitor sign in sheets. Maintains and updates the Substitute Handbooks for all centers.
  • As directed by Education Services Manager, files, types, copies and collates on a needed basis.
  • Performs all duties, in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the Joint Council for Economic Opportunity, Inc.
  • If placed long term, will follow appropriate job description for placement.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES In the event the Lead Teacher is absent, the Center Support Teacher will supervise classroom education staff and will be responsible for the day-to-day routine operation of the center as approved by the Education Services Manager. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting with training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE A baccalaureate or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or in any field and course work equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education with experience teaching preschool age children, or an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, with one year experience teaching preschool aged children and, one year of supervision (required by all of the above) or an AA degree with 24 credits in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a child-related area; and one year of child daycare teaching experience; and one year of experience supervising staff.
