Administrative Program Coordinator

The Center for Indigenous Health (CIH) is located within the Department of International Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. CIH has satellite offices located in the Southwest and Great Lakes regions of the Midwest where much of our community-engaged work is done. CIH employs over 250 staff and faculty. The core activities housed at CIH include research studies of behavioral/ mental health, infectious diseases, a graduate and doctoral training and scholarship program and wide array of public health service activities. The Center for Indigenous Health (CIH) is seeking an Administrative Program Coordinator to work as part of its community-based leadership team. This is a full-time exempt position. This position works together with the Center's Training Program team (Training Program Director, Manager, and additional Coordinators). This position reports to the Training Manager and Director. The Center has a mission to work in partnership with Indigenous communities to raise the health status and self-sufficiency of Indigenous peoples to the highest possible level. This mission is accomplished through four core activities: 1) Policy, 2) Education and Training, 3) Wise Practices, and 4) Research.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

* Provide high-level administrative support for the Center for Indigenous Health.

* Manage high-level projects to ensure smooth operation and efficiency.

* Manage intern programs and coordination for short-term visitors.

* Manage administrative writing tasks (such as compiling drafts of letters of recommendation).

* Distribute and track completion of evaluations and surveys for various programs using Qualtrics.

* Update the Training Program database with student information following each Institute.

* Provide coordination for Institute course planning teams (i.e. attend all meetings, take notes, record action items, ensure that progress is being made).

* Build the course websites for all Institute courses on Course Plus.

* Assist with logistics for student travel and in-person events.

* Serve as a Teaching Assistant for some courses each Institute and Term courses in the MPH and DrPH concentration courses.

* Coordinate the graduate student mentorship events and webinars for graduate students and alumni.

* Exercise leadership in highlighting Departmental and Center policies, resources and benefits and distributing these to others as needed.

* Assist the Training Director with the development of the new Indigenous Health MPH and DrPH concentrations.

* Maintain confidentiality of documents and files.

* Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

* Extensive experience and working knowledge in diversity, equity and inclusion.

* Proficiency in the use of computers, including Microsoft 365 and other software applications, web-based databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.

* Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively across disciplines and within a variety of culture.

* Ability to travel with overnight stays required as needed. Some evening, weekend and holiday work may be required.

* This position will maintain background clearance as required by the employer and any collaborating agencies.

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree.

* Three years progressively responsible professional level administrative or finance experience.

* Additional experience may substitute for education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience in program administration in an academic environment.

* Project management experience.
