Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality

The Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality provides an infrastructure that oversees, coordinates and supports patient safety and quality efforts across Johns Hopkins' integrated health care system. Our mission is to eliminate patient harm, achieve best patient outcomes at the lowest possible cost and share that knowledge through our research and trainings.

Program Manager Essential Job Functions:

  • This position provides feedback, support, and education to collaborators and customers with the primary goal of achieving accountability and compliance with all metrics supporting programmatic work stemming from JHM, HSCRC, and other regulatory agencies
  • Works in conjunction with Patient Safety and Quality leaders to identify performance improvement (PI) opportunities and needs
  • Responsible for effectively facilitating performance improvement teams
  • Participates in Joint Commission and other regulatory compliance related activities, and/or other organization wide projects
  • The position requires collaboration with appropriate staff, disciplines, and departments in developing and overseeing the implementation of plans of corrective action
  • Serves as a technical expert to others for understanding of the data related to organizational performance
  • Communication is required internally and externally to persuade or gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas and processes
  • Strong analytics experience and expertise are necessary to operate in the electronic medical record and multiple data and software platforms to data mine and analyze information to develop and summarize complex data
  • Awareness of local, state and federal policies stemming from the annual Inpatient Prospective Payment System, Maryland Health Services Cost Review Commission, The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, and The Joint Commission are essential for guiding a high-reliable organization
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/ Work Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business in Health Administration, Project Management or related degree is required
  • Master’s Degree is preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience managing programs and projects that must include:
    • Minimum three (3) years providing project or team leadership
    • Minimum three (3) years’ experience working on project(s) involving project life cycle methodologies
    • Consultant or operations experience strongly desired
    • Clinical or health operations experience preferred.
    • Completion/ Certification of Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma, Lean, or similar training preferred.

Work location: Hybrid; primary office location is the Armstrong Institute located on Pratt Street.
