Job Title: Controlle r, plus limited HR functions
Location: South Suburban Chicago , with a hybrid working opportunity

Industry: Metals fabrication , including welding, CNC machining, bending, forming and stamping. Inputs are raw steel products, castings and other metal products, and outputs are finished goods for industrial manufacturers.

A well respected, profitable, growing privately held manufacturer is seeking a Controller who will also handle routine human resources functions. This is a hands-on position that will take full ownership of all accounting systems, reporting, forecasting and analysis, and most importantly, evaluating and implementation process improvements in both finance and manufacturing operations. The candidate will be a key member of the 5 person executive team, reporting directly to the CEO. This unique position offers plenty of exposure and a variety of challenges and growth opportunities.

Duties include:

-Develop and prepare management based financial statements, reports, and dashboards.

-Maintain and improve the cost accounting system.

-Supervise all accounting functions, including receivables, payables, payroll, banking, insurance and routine tax filings.

-Perform inventory, profitability and other analyses.

-Develop and improve business forecasting.

-Develop and document various process controls and suggest areas for improvement.

-Review, coordinate, negotiate and oversee all employee benefit programs.

-Review and negotiate all customer and vendor contracts

-Administer and communicate employee related policies and benefits.

-Primary interface with outside accountants, attorneys, and consultants.

Qualifications include:

-The most important criteria is deep experience in manufacturing environments. A CPA license is not required, as this position focuses on internal processes. Experience in public company financial reporting or technical GAAP accounting are NOT important in this position.

-Knowledge of Global Shop or other ERP manufacturing systems an important consideration.

-Bachelor's degree in accounting and/or finance

-10-15 years of experience in a sophisticated manufacturing environment.

-Strong accounting and system implementation experience.

-Self-starter, with the ability to work independently with limited supervision.

-Roll-up-your-sleeves attitude to build productive working relations with employees and customers.
