We are seeking a mid-level Electrical Engineer to be part of the Engineering team responsible for the development of military-grade electronics and underwater acoustic systems. The group works with the Navy, internal production staff, and representatives from other companies to advance torpedo performance and lower production costs. Day to day operations involve a mix of analog and digital circuit design, integration, analysis, schematic capture, and testing of acoustic systems, and troubleshooting hardware and physical boards. Work on the systems include connecting software to communication interfaces. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Analyze and design analog and digital electronic circuits including signal conditioning, power, analog-to-digital conversion, and communication. - Integrate, test, troubleshoot, and verify electrical hardware. - Develop test criteria and assist in the design of test systems including test software applications. - Perform component and architecture trade studies to determine optimal system solutions. - Design, analyze, and test underwater acoustic systems. - Design and build prototype cable assemblies. - Perform solder rework of prototype circuit card assemblies. - Develop technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications to explain technical issues to program management and the Navy customer. - Generate design and interface documentation. CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS: Required: - Experience with the engineering development life cycle, including concept, requirements, design, implementation and test phases. - Working knowledge of common communication interfaces such as Ethernet, RS-485, USB, CAN bus, LVDS, and protocols such as TCP and UDP. - Experience in analog and digital circuit design including signal integrity principles. - Proficiency in all phases of PCB design, including: creation of high-level functional and architectural diagrams, SPICE analysis, power analysis, component selection, schematic entry, and working with the PCB layout team to optimize placement, signal integrity, fitment, etc. - Familiarity with underwater acoustic principles. - Strong documentation and communication skills. Preferred: - Experience with battery systems, electric motors, and navigation systems. - MATLAB programming. - OrCAD Capture experience. Education and Experience Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 5 to 15 years of experience.
