We have an exciting career opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer with our Civil, Transportation team. In this role, you will work on various transportation projects with state and local transportation agencies. As a Senior Project Engineer, you will perform engineering analysis and supporting calculations/documentation relating to traffic safety and operations. You will also coordinate the drafting of project deliverables for various clients. The ideal candidate has experience with traffic and safety experience and comprehensive knowledge of local and MassDOT standards.

Location: This position will have a hybrid work schedule and, when in the office, will work from our Quincy, MA office.
Your Impact

• Manage project analysis and deliverables.
• Create and execute project work plans.
• Work in a collaborative environment, with team members, senior staff, and clients.
• Interacting with clients, agencies, and other project stakeholders, including MassDOT
• Participates in external associations and professional conferences and presents or authors technical papers

What We Are Looking For

• A minimum of 5-8 years of diverse and progressive civil transportation and traffic engineering experience.
• Licensed PE in the state of MA or planning to obtain licensure within one year or Professional Licensure may not be required with additional years of experience upon recommendation by the manager and review by Senior Leadership.
• B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience working with public agencies and/or municipalities. MassDOT experience is preferred.
• Progressive experience with developing plans analyses and reports per DOT standards and requirements
• Excellent communication and client relation skills.
• Strong organizational skills with a track record for adhering to design budgets and schedules.
• Advanced use of project-specific software such as CADD, GIS, Civil3D etc.
• Ability to work independently and develop task deliverables in a complete and reviewable manner.
• Willingness to work at client sites, as needed, as an extension of client staff.

Job Responsibilities

• Writing technical reports, proposals, and contracts.
• Managing budgets and tracking weekly performance.
• Developing and negotiating project scopes, fees, and schedules.
• Applying engineering expertise to solve complex problems.
• Monitoring project progress and identifying extra work needs.
• Gaining project management experience and overseeing financials.
• Acting as Technical Lead for complex projects and coordinating with other teams.
• Supervising and training junior staff and providing performance feedback.
• Preparing technical proposals for large or complex projects.
• Ensuring quality control by reviewing designs and calculations.
• Attending client meetings and presenting project deliverables.
• Leading construction administration tasks and updating the Project Manager.
• Maintaining awareness of corporate priorities and project profitability.
• Understanding contract terms and advising on professional liability concerns.
• Participating in professional associations and conferences.
• Identifying and documenting potential claims.
• Managing direct reports, including workload and career development.
