Job Details
Responsibilities:
Legal Documentation: Assist in the preparation, review, and analysis of legal documents, including purchase and sale agreements, leases, loan documents, and other transactional documents related to commercial real estate acquisitions, dispositions, and financing.
Due Diligence: Conduct thorough due diligence investigations, including title searches, survey reviews, and zoning and environmental assessments. Prepare summaries and reports based on findings.
Contract Management: Maintain and manage legal documentation, contracts, and databases, ensuring accuracy and accessibility. Track critical dates, deadlines, and deliverables related to commercial real estate transactions.
Research and Analysis: Conduct legal research and analysis on various commercial real estate matters, including regulatory compliance, property zoning, and land use restrictions. Provide comprehensive reports and recommendations to assist the legal team in decision-making.
Coordination and Communication: Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, external counsel, and real estate professionals to facilitate efficient transactional processes. Communicate effectively with various parties involved in commercial real estate transactions to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion.
Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the legal team, including organizing and maintaining files, managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and preparing legal documents and correspondence.
Compliance and Regulatory Matters: Stay up to date with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards related to commercial real estate transactions. Assist in ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
Requirements:
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in paralegal studies, legal studies, or a related field. A minimum of [X] years of experience as a paralegal in commercial real estate law is required. Experience in a real estate investment trust or a law firm specializing in real estate is highly desirable.
Knowledge of Commercial Real Estate Law: In-depth understanding of commercial real estate law, including transactional processes, contract law, due diligence procedures, and title and survey review. Familiarity with zoning and environmental regulations is a plus.
Legal Research and Analysis: Proficient in conducting legal research using online databases, such as Westlaw or LexisNexis. Ability to analyze complex legal issues, identify relevant precedents, and present findings in a clear and concise manner.
Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing legal documents, contracts, and due diligence reports. Ability to identify potential issues or discrepancies and provide recommendations for resolution.
Organizational and Time Management Skills: Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple assignments simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Communication and Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively within a diverse and dynamic legal team.
Technology Proficiency: Proficient in using legal software and technology, including document management systems, contract management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
