The Health4PETS® Liaison Assistant (Animal Health Assistant) is an integral member of the Liaison team. By providing medical, technical, and administrative assistance to the team throughout all phases of service. The Liaison Assistant will help monitor the wellness of borders by assisting the Health4Pets® Liaison in performing hands-on checks at prescribed times throughout the day. Liaison’s assistants will help report status changes to all departments ensuring continuity of care throughout the facility. Liaisons Assistants along with the Liaisons will dispense medications and vaccinations to all Resort guests as prescribed and are first on the scene should immediate medical attention be required. Liaison Assistants will also communicate with Clients regarding any health and wellness updates or concerns regarding their pets.

Essential Job Functions

• Assist the Liaison in identifying specific physical conditions (including vomiting, diarrhea, eye, and nasal discharge, limping, seizures, bloat, wound injuries, and skin issues such as questionable lumps and bumps) and follow a prescribed course of action to ensure animal safety.
• Use sensitivity, maturity, and professionalism in all client (and staff) communications.
• Communicate with Clients regarding any health and wellness updates or concerns regarding their pet.
• Maintain accurate and timely records documenting all activities and events as required.
• Efficiently conduct work using daily task lists, checklists, and other organizational systems.
• Safely assist in administering vaccinations and medications.
• Conduct all work with a calm, confident demeanor.
• Follow all handling guidelines to safely navigate dogs throughout the facility.
• Practice positive reinforcement dog training using treats.
• Adhere to changing work schedule which requires rotating shifts, weekend shifts, holidays, and overtime in accordance with business needs.
• Maintain excellent attendance record with an on-time arrival.
• Learn, understand and identify universal canine body language and dog behaviors.
• Assist with Cat boarding care and small animal care
• Learn and interpret dog body language to anticipate reactions. Make sound judgments to maximize safe outcomes.
• Learn/follow specific steps and protocols for appropriate and timely communication with Pet Parents and Team Members.
• Learn and follow a color-coded caution system describing employee restrictions and permissions for dog handling.
• Listen and respond to verbal instructions communicated in person, over the loudspeaker, or walky-talky.

Computers Skills

• Must be able to learn and efficiently use Vetter, Gingr, Springboard, One Note, When I Work, and Go Daddy Email.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of professional Animal Care experience preferred
• Passionate about animal welfare. Treats all animals with compassion and kindness.
• Outstanding interpersonal communication skills.
• Must be highly organized. Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced setting.
• Strong computer experience. Learns new programs with ease.
• Comfortable interacting with dogs and cats of all breeds and sizes.
• Follow a rotating work schedule. (e.g. nights, weekends, and holidays)
• Reliable and dependable. Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality
• Strong work ethic. Set high standards for self and others.

Education

• Veterinary Technician Assistant preferred.
• High School Diploma required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
