JLL is Hiring a Director of Labor Relations Near Chicago, IL
Role Summary:
The Labor Relations Director leads the Labor Relations function and manages a small team tasked with providing guidance on labor relations issues; performing duties relating to union negotiations, contract administration, grievances, and employee relations concerns.This role can be remote.
Key Responsibilities:
Develops the organization's overall labor relations strategy relating to negotiations, grievance handling, and union organizing.
Prepares for, conducts, or advises on collective bargaining agreement negotiations. Drafts or assists in drafting CBAs and MOUs.
Advises senior leadership on business decisions affecting union populations.
Establish and foster relationships with unions and internal JLL stakeholders, including account leadership, engineering leadership, and HR and Legal partners.
Provide guidance to managers and Human Resources on administration of collective bargaining agreements, employee discipline, and grievance procedures.
Draft settlement agreements, disciplinary warnings, and grievance decisions.
Assists in the creation, administration and implementation of the organization's labor relations programs, policies, and procedures.
Investigates labor relations issues and assists with the coordination of appropriate responses to satisfactory resolution; may serve as a representative at hearings, grievances, and meetings regarding labor relations matters.
Conducts training sessions on labor relations and employment related matters, including discipline, policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
Assists and advises business leaders and HR in new business involving union employees.
Serves as point of contact for outside counsel for arbitrations, litigation, and audits.
Assists the business in the event of union organizing and elections.

Bachelor's Degree required, with a concentration in Labor Relations, Employee Relations, Human Resource Administration or similar field preferred; JD welcomed.
At least (7) seven years of professional experience in labor and employee relations
Must possess familiarity with employment laws and the ability to assess evidence and arrive at a fair conclusion in accordance with policies, work rules, and applicable laws.
Knowledge of the concepts of collective bargaining and the grievance process.
Prior experience leading CBA negotiations required.
Prior experience supporting a large hourly workforce preferred.
Prior supervisory experience preferred.
Ability to read and consider/apply terms of a client's Master Service Agreement
Must be able to work well with employees at all levels of the organization, including internal and external customers.
Must possess excellent analytical, reporting, verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to work well within a diverse environment with the ability to handle all situations with diplomacy, tact, and confidentiality.
Must possess the ability to prioritize work and to respond to stakeholders in a timely and courteous manner.
Must possess the ability to be self-directed and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Previous experience working with an hourly union employee population is required.
Must be able to use personal computers and associated software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access and Excel.
