Position Title: Family Support Liaison Supervisor

Department: Outreach & Family Support Liaison Program

Position Type: Full-Time (37.5 hours/week), Non-Exempt

Work Setting: Hybrid

Reports To: Family Support Liaison Program Manager

Pay Range: $27.00 to $29.20/hour

Position Overview:

In collaboration with San Diego County Child Welfare System’s commitment to reducing the disproportionality of African American/Black and immigrant/refugee families who are CWS involved, the Family Support Liaison Program (FSLP) aims to support parents and caregivers as they navigate the Child Welfare System (CWS). We help families to reunify with their child/ren, as well as to reduce future CWS involvement of families enrolled in the program.

JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the Family Support Liaison Program (FSLP) team as the Family Support Liaison Supervisor. In this role, you have the opportunity to use your critical thinking skills and interpersonal experience to make a meaningful difference in our communities and help change lives across San Diego. The Family Support Liaison Supervisor plays an integral role on the FSLP team and supports the entire agency by building trust in our communities and hope for a better tomorrow.

This position reports directly to the Family Support Liaison Program Manager and works closely with the Wraparound Coach, and the rest of the FSLP team

Face-to-face work with clients is required. Please note that all reasonable safety precautions will be taken. 

Responsibilities:

  • Promote a family-driven, community-based, culturally, and linguistically competent and trauma-informed system of care
  • Implement, coach, and train staff on the C.A.R.E.S. Wraparound model to high-fidelity, in partnership with program staff, leadership, and trainers
  • Educate staff on FSLP processes and protocols, provide support and feedback to ensure that staff are implementing the program with consistency
  • Ensure resources are used efficiently and that maximization of alternative funding streams is identified and utilized
  • Assist direct reports with complex cases when indicated, building relationships with family members, providers, and the community
  • Review case documentation to ensure it is complete and high-quality, monitor data entry processes, regularly review client, and program outcome data as well as client satisfaction surveys
  • Plan performance expectations, monitor, and appraise the employee's job results and performance in order to coach/develop, counsel, or discipline staff members
  • Serve as a member of project workgroups as assigned
  • Perform other incidental or related duties as assigned, assisting and training others

Skills/Experience/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:

  • Personal experience and knowledge of at least one of the focus communities (African American, Black, African immigrant, African refugee)
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a supervisory role or with equivalent experience (e.g. managing volunteers)
  • Minimum of two years of experience in mental health, case management, and/or resource coordination roles
  • Must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including ability to collaborate with other FSLP staff, CWS staff, and community providers
  • Must have excellent leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information
  • Proven ability to work with diverse groups and build strong partnerships
  • Culturally competent when relating to clients, staff, and leadership
  • Ability to be available for staff, as needed, during some evenings and weekends
  • Demonstrate cultural and linguistic competence & sensitivity to population(s) served
  • Must have a valid CA driver’s license, insurance, a reliable personal vehicle, and a willingness to travel off-site

Skills/Abilities We’d Like You to Have:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in human services-related field highly preferred
  • Lived experience of child welfare system and processes preferred
  • Previous training in Wraparound preferred
  • Knowledge of local programs, organizations, and resources, including how to access them preferred
