Position Title: Donor Database Associate

Organization: Jewish Family Service of San Diego

Department: Development/Advancement

Position Type: Full-Time (37.5 hours/week), Non-Exempt

Reports To: Donor Database Manager

Pay Rate: $21.75-$23.50/hour

Position Overview:

JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the Advancement Services team as the Donor Database Associate. In this role, you have the opportunity to use your organizational and analytical skills, and data entry experience to make a meaningful difference in your community and help change lives across San Diego. The Donor Database Associate plays an integral role on the team and supports the entire agency by assisting with the accurate recording and processing of over 7,000 donor gifts and corresponding acknowledgements annually. This position partners with other members of the team to maintain data integrity, and provides additional support to the Advancement staff to help achieve fundraising goals. This position reports directly to the Donor Database Manager and works closely with the other Donor Database Associates and the rest of the Advancement Services team.

Responsibilities:

  • Records all gifts accurately using the Raiser’s Edge database
  • Selects, prepares, proofreads, and sends appropriate individualized acknowledgements for all gifts based on predetermined criteria
  • Processes and handles credit card information securely and accurately
  • Ensures acknowledgement letters are accurate and complete for donors and mailed out within 48 hours of receipt of gift
  • Processes data being communicated between the Raiser’s Edge and Luminate Online
  • Assists the Advancement Team with data entry and donor record upkeep, in addition to other administrative tasks related to donor data management and stewardship
  • Handles inbound and outbound calls to donors, volunteers, and staff, in a professional and friendly manner
  • Organizes, creates, and maintains Development records, files, and other materials
  • Provides support at charitable events, including registration and donation processing
  • Maintains and performs record and data cleanup/updates in Raiser’s Edge to ensure consistency and integrity
  • Processes all checks received by mail daily and works with other staff members to prepare daily deposit log

Skills/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:

  • Intermediate or Advanced data entry skills
  • Accuracy and strong attention to detail
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook, and managing data in a Windows environment
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Works independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable asking questions and seeking additional training to execute tasks
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent telephone and oral communication skills
  • Excellent spelling, grammar, and written communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve in complex situations
  • Ability to analyze and organize data
  • Eagerness to participate in additional classes and trainings, or obtain additional certifications
  • Positive and professional demeanor and demonstrates integrity, accountability, and confidentiality with internal and external partners

Skills/Abilities We’d Like You to Have:

  • Working knowledge of a general ledger and gift coding structure
  • Strong mathematical skills and basic understanding of accounting concepts as it relates to handling and processing donations
  • Ability to identify process improvement and desire to create, streamline and update processes
  • Experience working with donor management software, such as Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or Altru, is a plus
