Jewish Family & Children's Service is Hiring a Prevention Specialist (12 hours/week) Near Phoenix, AZ

Overview

Prevention Specialist: The Prevention Specialist works independently on specific assignments, including providing community outreach, screening, facilitation of group sessions, and workshops/presentations to youth & adult populations.

**Part-Time Position: 12 Hours per week.**

This role provides knowledge of agency and community resources to be used on behalf of the various populations being served. This position involves travel to designated schools, community sites, and JFCS sites.

Responsibilities

  • Works with families of youth participants, when appropriate, to improve communication and understanding of age-related issues and family dynamics. This will include traveling to community schools several days per week to facilitate group sessions, presentations, and parent workshops.
  • Markets the assigned prevention program within the target communities. This will include working with members in the community to identify the needs of each particular community.
  • Evaluates participants for appropriateness of group process.
  • Conducts a Needs Assessment, as appropriate.
  • Provides a safe group setting where participants can develop skills related to resiliency

**Contract follows the school months of August through May and allows at least one full month off in the summer. Summer work optional.**

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited school. A combination of education and experience may substitute.
  • Experience in providing outreach, evaluation, and facilitation of groups and prevention services to youth & at-risk populations.
