Jersey Mike's Subs is finally coming to the KC Northland and we are looking for an ambitious, high-performing Assistant Manager (45 hours/week) to be an integral part of what's sure to be the most popular spot in the Northland for authentic Jersey Shore-style sub sandwiches made Mike's Way with "The Juice"! Our award-winning, local KC Northland-based ownership group has well over 20 years proven successful experience within the fast casual and food service industry across multiple popular franchise brands and is looking for a driven individual who exudes positive energy and confidence and is ready to take on a challenging, yet very rewarding role to, not just lead, but help build our awesome Jersey Mike's - Barry Road KC crew made up of positive vibe, friendly, and energetic team members!
Total compensation day one starts at $18/hour (plus overtime) then increases to $22/hour (including overtime) after first 60 days and successful completion of Jersey Mike's Subs, on-the-job, Assistant Manager-in-Training (M.I.T.) program up to $24.30/hour (with full bonuses). Advancement opportunity to a future ($65k-$75k /year) GM role at this, or a second planned new, store location is available with a proven track-record of dependability and demonstrated strong work performance. Our ideal candidate will be an accountable, reliable, and mature-minded, fast-mover with a minimum of 2 years of SUCCESSFUL (leadership or non-leadership) experience within the quick service or fast-casual service industry. This is a front-line management role where you will be expected to lead and perform ALL store duties alongside anywhere between 1-20 team members while maintaining efficient and consistently first-class operations by leading by example...(this is not a role for someone who wants to hold a clipboard, sit in an office, or just tell others what to do). To us leading by example entails being the most responsible, reliable, punctual, calm-under-pressure, knowledgeable, outgoing, friendly and FASTEST Jersey Mike's team member on any given shift. Other requirements of our Assistant Manager include: a TREMENDOUS work-ethic, EXCELLENT customer service, organization, and communication skills, UNMATCHED reliability and dependability, POSITIVE attitude and demeanor in both busy and slow times during the shift, ability to QUICKLY perform ALL food prep, cleaning, and customer service duties during each shift, and ensuring all opening and closing duties have been completed successfully. Leadership positions within our organization are always HELD TO A HIGHER STANDARD than our hourly team members and are expected to demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the menu, promotions, and all operations and procedures of the store should fellow team members have questions and/or entering guests have any issues needing resolution.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Quickly and accurately prepare and prep all menu items. Correctly and safely operate all kitchen equipment. Organizing and rotating of all food items according to FIFO standard. Exhibit a friendly, respectful, and courteous attitude toward customers and co-workers at all times. Set up equipment, utensils, and supplies at opening. Break down, clean (dishes), and put away equipment, utensils, and supplies during shift and at closing. Perform cleaning and maintenance procedures as directed by Owner or GM. Comply at all times with Jersey Mike's dress code and personal appearance standards. Comply with all Jersey Mike's Subs policies and procedures. Perform all essential duties of this position in a safe and effective manner, consistent with the prescribed method and guidelines established by Jersey Mike's Subs and Northland Subs LLC. Hourly, shift, and daily written, electronic, and/or phone reporting to General Manager and/or Owner. Perform other duties as directed by General Manager or Owner. Effectively supervise operations, product quality, and security of the store. Manage food and labor costs to help reach specified performance goals.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess the following traits: positive attitude at all times, quick learner, coachable/teachable spirit, and outgoing personality while working in both slow and fast-paced environments. Must have dependable transportation available and be able to be readily contacted by phone between pre-open and post-closing staffing hours of the day. Must be at least 18 years of age to operate all equipment. Must be willing to obtain, and keep current, valid food handler manager-level certification and/or ServSafe certification, at own expense, within 20 days after hire date if not already certified upon hiring. Must have at least 2 years of relevant food service work history within the food or beverage (quick-service or fast-casual) industry for consideration.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB: Must be able to perform the tasks outlined above (“Essential Duties”); must be able to stand for long periods, work with agility, and occasionally work long hours; must be able to test products by taste, color, and smell; must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
