Jennmar Services is Hiring a Safety Manager Near Hockley, TX

Jennmar Services is looking for a safety manager (EHS&Q) to join a skilled group of individuals at a salt mine in Hockley Texas. The EHS&Q Manager will establish, implement, and maintain policies that promote a safe and healthy work environment and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory bodies.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote safety culture through leadership and by developing and reviewing safety programs.
  • Oversee facility inspections for plant safety, health, and environmental risks.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce policies for a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Guide, supervise, and evaluate the performance of direct reports.
  • Mine Rescue Training and involvement


Accountable For:

  • Creating a positive work environment and promoting safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Cultivating a culture of constant compliance.
  • Keeping senior management informed of laws, regulations, and issues that impact the plant.
  • Building and maintaining professional relationships in federal, state, and local regulatory bodies.
  • Responding to inquiries and serving as a point of contact for federal, state, and local regulators.
  • Investigating accidents, documenting findings, and recommending prevention measures.
  • Updating environmental policy manuals, safety data sheets, and compliance processes to comply with new and amended regulations.
  • Performing regular audits on people and processes to improve the safety culture and adherence.
  • Overseeing internal controls and auditing systems that monitor and report on regulatory processes.
  • Driving and reinforcing safety culture by conducting weekly GEMBA Walk inspections.
  • Maintaining and posting quarterly updates of facility mine maps and fire and evacuation plans.
  • Preparing and submitting MSHA reports for man hours and recordable.
  • Developing facility inspection policies and procedures and performing FMSA audits to detect and correct non-compliance.
  • Scheduling and conducting training programs for emergency procedures and workplace safety.
  • Providing EHS expertise and guidance on designing and developing facilities, work areas, and procedures.
  • Coordinating Annual Physicals, Annual Refresher and MSHA audio tests.
  • Maintaining employee exposure records for easy accessibility and regulatory compliance.
  • Prompt and efficient handling of customer inquiries, complaints, emergencies, and problems.
  • Assisting with preparing the site and EHS records for FSMA audit readiness.
  • Assisting with fire, mock disaster, and product recall drills.
  • Attending MSHA and other EHS-related seminars and training as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field preferred.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in EHS, light industrial, salt, and mining
  • Strong working knowledge of bulk solids handling equipment in corrosive environments.

Preferred/Plus

  • Master’s degree
  • MSHA certifications (IS, IU, MR, MM)
  • FSMA, PCQI and HAACP training
  • MS Dynamics experience
  • Maintenance & Reliability experience
  • Industrial equipment, instrumentation, and electrical systems experience
  • Water Operator license (TX)
  • Accredited qualifications in regulatory and compliance assurance

Schedule & Compensation:

  • Starting at 80k annually
  • Monday - Friday
  • 7am - 3pm
