The Event Services Coordinator serves as a key liaison with clients and internal stakeholder groups (F&B, Lodging, Maintenance, Security, Parking, etc departments) by effectively maintaining various communication skill sets. This position provides administrative support, works on special projects as assigned and is proactive and responsive in a timely, friendly, tactful and professional manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)

  • Assist Manager of Events with on-mountain, social, staff, and music event execution, as well as planning and creation.
  • Assist Manager of Events with on-campus merchandising and collateral distribution.
  • Interact with guests (on and off mountain) to create awareness around resort events & activities
  • Execute weekly events (trivia, etc.) which includes the following: Setup, teardown, department attendance, music, activities, and prizes.
  • Support Communications Manager and Coordinator with daily Jay peak snow report email, conditions report, snowphone, and outside snow reporting agencies as needed.
  • Support Communications Manager and Coordinator in working with Ski Patrol, Mountain Operations, and Lift Operations to ensure proper operations and conditions are communicated to Jay Peak Guests.
  • Support Photo of the Day
  • Test Snow Conditions for accurate reporting, as needed
QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEAssociate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. The ability to speak French is a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLSTo perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the Internet and Microsoft Word and Excel.
OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES
Must have strong communication skills, customer service skills and organizational skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job requires the ability to ski or snowboard as many of the duties will be performed outside, in the winter, and, at times, on high-incline terrain. Some summer duties will also require being outdoors and an employee should be able to stand for prolonged periods of time and be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to walk and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
RESORT CONDITIONS
This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multi-level buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
