Quality Assurance Mechanical Inspector Aerospace Machined Parts

Our firm is a well-established and is a growing and we are seeking a hands on Quality Assurance Mechanical Inspector to join our Quality team. We manufacture close tolerance precision machined parts for the Aerospace industry.

The position covers a range of QC related duties and skills and the successful candidate will have a balanced mix of skills: effective communication skills, basic computer skills, hands on mechanical inspection experience, CMM exposure, gage calibration, reviewing supplier material and processing certs, etc..

The candidate must be able to communicate effectively with suppliers and our customers and co workers. This job function performs first article, in process, receiving inspection, final product mechanical inspection, complete inspection reports. Key is performing hands on physical dimensional checking using dimensional inspection tools and also review paperwork and certifications from suppliers and vendors.

Quality Inspector Job Duties include:

- Work closely and communicate effectively with the
Quality and Production Manager to achieve product quality and production goals.

- Communicate with customers regarding quality issues. Respond to Customer corrective action requests as directed.

- Participate in product customer source inspection of parts as directed.

- Daily perform mechanical machined parts dimensional inspection using surface plate and or CMM tools. : perform in-process, first article reports, final inspection, AS9102 completion.

- Inspect parts using inspection hand tools, such as mics, indicators, height gages, optical comparitor, surface plate inspection techniques, etc.

- Operate CMM to inspect parts. PCDMIS experience is desired.

- Read and interpret GD&T ANSI Y14.5 engineering drawings

- Review material and processing certifications for compliance to Aerospace standards and confirm if in accordance with planning and customer specifications.

- Dimensional inspect precision machined parts using mics, surface plate inspection techniques, CMM tools, optical comparator, thread and plug gages.

- Inspect raw metals for size, condition, conformance to specifications.

- Complete logs, scan paperwork, file online, email.

- Support the Operations Manager and Quality Manger or Supervisor as required.

- Complete all forms of AS9102 inspection report.

Skills Requirements:

- 5 years prior QA hands on mechanical inspection experience, or prior machine shop experience as a machinist will substitute.

- Experience using inspection hand tools, such as mics, indicators, height gages, thread gages, etc.

- Ability to read and interpret GD&T ANSI Y14.5 engineering drawings

- Shop math, trig, knowledge required

- Computer skills, such as email use, MS Word, Excel creation, scanning, PDF file saving,

- US Citizenship required or equivalent for our US Govt contracts.

- Effective communications and skills: must be able to effectively speak, write emails and telephone communications with the suppliers and customers.

- Must be fluent in English and able to communicate effectively as above.
- Attention to detail, ability to read, write. Cognitive ability to perform the job with a minimum of errors or omissions.

- AS9102 form completion experience.

Able to to stand/sit 8-10 hours per day, lift 30 lbs.
