SUMMARY OF POSITION FUNCTION:

  • Follows all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensures no manipulation of student data.
  • Assists the Recreation Coordinator in planning and conducting the Center’s Recreation/Avocation activities.
  • Organizes and supervises students' recreation/avocation activities.
  • Provides instruction and coaching to students in developing and improving their recreational/avocational skills.
  • Supervises students at off-Center recreational/avocational activities. May be required to transport students to and from such activities.
  • Ensures students accountability and maintains discipline during all recreational/vocational events

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

  • Participates, trains and supervises students in the regular care and maintenance of Recreation areas and facilities.
  • Maintains equipment and material accountability.
  • Coordinates and/or conducts the Recreation/Avocation Program orientation for new students.
  • Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching.
  • Mentors, monitors and models the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH. (Workplace Relationships and Ethics; Communications; Personal Growth and Development; Interpersonal Skills; Information Management; Multicultural Awareness; Career and Personal Planning; Independent Living)
  • Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School graduate or GED required. College level education in recreation may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Two years of proven work-related experience in recreation.

OTHER:

  • Must possess a valid commercial driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and meet company insurability requirements.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Reading, writing and communicating fluently in English

  • Seeing to read labels, posters, documents, PC screens, etc.
  • Sitting, standing, moving about or walking for occasional or frequent periods of time
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment
  • Kneeling, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching overhead
  • Occasionally carrying and/or lifting light objects

Pay: $17.20 - $17.50 per hour
