Jackpocket is Hiring a Corporate Counsel Near New York City, NY

Jackpocket is the first mobile lottery courier app in the U.S. that offers players a secure way to order official state lottery tickets, such as Powerball, Mega Millions, and more, via their smartphones. We're creating a more convenient, fun, and responsible way to play the lottery by modernizing the $300B global lottery market with a mobile platform that everyone can feel good about.

As a member of Jackpocket’s Legal Team, you will primarily be responsible for drafting, negotiating, and reviewing legal contracts, entity management, corporate governance, data privacy and security, conducting legal research, and serving as an advisor to various stakeholders across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, negotiate, and review contracts
  • Participate in the management of rapidly growing legal corporate structure, including entity formation and subsidiary maintenance
  • Advise management and business units on legal issues, including federal and state laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions
  • Conduct legal research and contribute to various miscellaneous and ad hoc projects as needed
  • Assist compliance officer with legal research and projects as needed
  • Provide legal representation in a highly regulated gaming industry environment and provide legal advice with respect to all applicable legislation, regulations, rules and standards

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate
  • Licensure to practice law in the State of New York, eligible for reciprocity or otherwise eligible to obtain an in-house counsel registration under 22 NYCRR 522
  • 4 years of progressive in-house legal experience or with a well-regarded law firm
  • Experience with entity formation, entity management, and corporate governance
  • Data privacy, security, and/or gaming experience a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines consistently and work under short time constraints

The annual base compensation range for this role is $145,000 - $175,000

This is a full-time exempt position and is not eligible for overtime under FLSA requirements.
