JOB TITLE: EARLY CHILDHOOD LEAD TEACHER
It Takes a Village Family of Schools is currently seeking qualified applicants for an Early Childhood Teacher for our Early Learning Centers. It Takes a Village Family of Schools is a pipeline educational system that currently consists of six directly operated early childhood centers, an independent K-8th grade social justice elementary school, and a workforce development training institute. ITAV is dedicated to providing comprehensive educational and case management services to low income families and children.

SUMMARY
The Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing the care, development, and education of developing children.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the direct supervision of students.
Teachers must work with the director to create educational and social activities for students. Teachers will implement these activities with the assistance of early childhood assistants. Teachers have the sole responsibility of discipline and ensuring that the students understand rules and limitations.
Teachers are responsible for keeping their work areas in order. This includes putting away toys, sanitizing equipment, sweeping and mopping their work area.
Teachers are to observe and note students’ areas of interest in order to plan activities centered around those interests.
Teachers are responsible for the supervision of early childhood students. All paperwork related to students including food intake, diaper changes, discipline, attendance and interest area is to be supervised by the teacher.
Teachers are the facilitators of the classroom.
Teachers should be willing to complete other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Early childhood teachers must be:
19 years old with a high school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED).
Have sixty semester hours or 90 quarter hours of credits from an accredited college or university with six semester or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development from birth to age six. These qualifications may also be obtained through the completion of a credentialing program approved in accordance with the Department of Children and Family Services.
Willing to work under the direct supervision of the center’s director.
