Isabel's House, Crisis Nursery of the Ozarks, opened its doors on June 25th, 2007.

Mission statement: To provide immediate refuge for children, ages birth to 12 years, whose families are in crisis. By partnering with families and the community, we will strengthen families and prevent child abuse and neglect.

  • Families who bring their children to Isabel's House partner with our team of Family Advocates to create a plan specific to each situation.
  • Our team works to connect parents and caregivers with the right resources to address their crises and build up the family.

Since opening, we have cared for more than 5,000 children and served more than 2,000 families.

What You'll Do:

Isabel's House seeks individuals dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect while providing a warm and loving home for children during their stay. Team members at Isabel's House provide residential care for children including engaging with children during curriculum and play, transportation to school and activities, preparing and participating in family style meals, documentation, cleaning/caring for the facility and other childcare related duties.

Position Summary:

The Development Coordinator is a professional staff member of Isabel's House, the Crisis Nursery of the Ozarks. This position plans, administers, and implements grant research/writing, the donor database, donor relations for areas of responsibility, and supports fund development strategy and plans. The position is exempt and supervised by the Development Director, working independently and collaboratively.

Essential Duties:

WORK DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Directs and implements an effective grant management program; including research, grant writing and follow up reports
  • Administer donor database, ensuring accuracy and full utilization of the program
  • Develop, execute, and monitor fund development plans and strategies to enhance cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors while meeting organizational budget goals
  • Plan for and manage third party fundraising program, tax credit program, and monthly giving program
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit annual, major and planned gifts from individual, corporate, and foundation sources
  • Establish strong relationships with staff, board, community volunteers, media contacts, and community leaders to ensure strong advocacy and fundraising success
  • Contribute to all external communications including the annual report, marketing materials and electronic communications including website and social media
  • Support large and small fundraising events such as banquets, galas, luncheons, community and donor events, and any other forums as needed
  • Supervise development interns and volunteers, as needed
  • Adheres to professional, fundraising ethics of the Association of Fundraising Professionals

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, communications, writing or equivalent is preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in development is preferred
  • Excellent time management and verbal, analytical and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of donor database systems is required

Working Conditions:

  • Required in state and out of state travel (air and automobile) approximately 10%
  • Work on a computer for long periods of time (up to four hours)
  • Sit or stand for long periods of time (up to four hours)
  • Weekend and evening meetings and events required
  • May be required to care and lift children weighing up to 50 pounds when performing duties at the house and in emergency situations

Our focus is to reduce child abuse and child neglect in Southwest Missouri by providing a safe place for parents/guardians to leave their children when addressing short-term emergencies or crisis. Children can stay a minimum of 24 hours up to 30 days in a fiscal-year. While the child is in our care, Family Advocates develop a customized plan for the parent to follow to resolve their situation and a customized plan for the child while the child is with us.
