IRCO is Hiring an Outreach & Access Specialist (Senior Program) Temporary until September 30th, 2024 Near Beaverton, OR

JOB CLASS; PAY GRADE: Specialist 1; Pay Grade 8
WAGE: $48,600 per year with benefits
STATUS : Full Time with Benefits

REPORTS TO: Mouna Jbali

REQUIREMENTS: Bilingual in English and Dari and or Pashtu. Must have a car, driver license and insurance.
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
RSS Afghan program is a contractor with State of Oregon Department of Human Services to provide services for Afghan seniors, 60 years of age and older living in State of Oregon. Services focused on increasing integration and independent healthy living for Refugee Seniors. Program's goal is to ensure that seniors are informed of, and if interested, linked to mainstream aging Services in their local community. Reach out to newly arrived seniors outside the tri-county area. These seniors may not be able to travel to the IRCO sites but will be contacted to offer referral and informational Services based on their needs. Outreach and Access Specialist will do outreach to get information on potential Refugee Seniors in the balance of state, and especially Afghan seniors who have resettled throughout the state.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide Outreach for Afghan seniors and local communities.
  • Reach out to new arrival seniors from Afghanistan to provide information and connect to resources.
  • Home visits to seniors who lives far away from IRCO GMEC
  • Organize senior gathering for new arrivals.
  • Assist seniors with applying for benefits.
  • Provide linkage to other needed providers and services.
  • Organize group filed trips.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
Attend staff meeting, partner meeting, internal and external committee meetings as assigned; support organizational record keeping requirements; other duties as assigned as needed by supervisor.
Requirements
JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in working with immigrant and refugee communities and understanding the cultural values and beliefs of that community.
  • Equivalent to completion an associate degree in social services, education, public health, or related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in case management, community outreach services, advocacy, social support, and assistance in resource navigation system to groups and families
  • Experience working with the community being served.
  • Bilingual in English and fluent in Dari and or Pashtu (with the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing) ability to translate written and verbal information into concepts that are understandable for community members.
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality and follow HIPAA policies and procedures.
KNOWLEDGE:
Education: Associate degree (3)
Experience: 1-2 years of experience is required (3)
Licensure, Certification:
Additional Language Required: Bilingual in English and Dari and or Pashtu languages.
Computers: All positions at IRCO require use of a computer and experience working with Microsoft Products including but not limited to Microsoft 365, Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
