SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Around Town DC (ATDC) Senior Program Manager, the Community Programs Manager develops, coordinates and markets recreation, socialization, and wellness programs. They engage in community outreach, new participant enrollment, program development and coverage as needed. The Community Programs Manager gathers, maintains, and reports key data elements for program sites They manage and collaborate with the ATDC program specialists to ensure data collection is maintained in accordance with the DC Department of Aging and Community Living (DACL) Grants Policy Manual.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Programmatic Support and Program Development

  • Travel to satellite wellness classes and program sites to assess program needs and assist instructors with class administration as needed.
  • Provide technical assistance to site managers to support virtual programming as needed.
  • Develop new and innovative ideas for recreation and socialization programs, regularly introducing evidence-based programs.
  • Provide oversight to programs at DC Public Library and Department of Parks and Recreation sites including monitoring class size and capacity limits, ensuring site safety, and maintaining a waitlist as needed.
  • Oversee transportation and supply requests from community dining sites.
  • Support Around Town DC Sr. Manager in communication with partners and community host sites.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Program Manager plan, schedule, and publicize wellness programs, including field trips and special events for sites in wards 2 and 3.
  • Assist the Senior Program Manager with maintaining the Around Town DC program website by regularly posting and updating the schedule and program information.

Enrollment

  • In collaboration with Senior Manager, draft and disseminate weekly e-newsletters for ATDC and monthly program supplies to dining sites.
  • Respond to inquiries and effectively present program information to clients and referral sources.
  • Support programming with registration, program information, and facilitating the completion of participant feedback forms as needed.
  • Work cooperatively with site managers, contractors and Around Town DC Program Specialists to collect intakes.

Relief Management

  • Perform Community Dining Site Manager functions when coverage is required.
  • Provide additional support for community dining sites during special events or other situations requiring additional support.

Data Management and Collection

  • Assist contract class instructors with collecting attendance and registration information.
  • Identify classes or participants missing information and develop strategies for collection.
  • Collect and maintain data related to special events.
  • Uphold Iona’s confidentiality policies and safeguard client information.

Other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-5 year of cumulative experience working in customer service, community health, social services, Senior Activities, or related field.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required.
  • Public speaking and program delivery skills
  • Experience working with older adults; must be able to work with diverse populations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with a strong customer service drive.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn about Iona’s programs and services to provide appropriate information and referrals to participants.
  • Computer proficiency is required. Experience with Office 365, Teams, WordPress, or Microsoft Excel is a plus.
