Intrepid is Hiring an Intern Near Largo, FL

Position Overview: As an Engineering Intern in the marine industry, you will gain hands-on experience and exposure to various facets of marine engineering. Working closely with our engineering team, you will assist in the design, development, and maintenance of marine systems and equipment. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical, real-world environment while contributing to the advancement of marine technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in Engineering Projects: Collaborate with senior engineers to support ongoing projects related to marine systems, including propulsion, navigation, electrical systems, and structural components.

  2. Research and Development: Conduct research on emerging technologies, materials, and methodologies relevant to the marine industry. Assist in prototyping and testing new concepts and designs.

  3. Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, and test reports. Ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.

  4. Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data from experiments, simulations, and field tests. Interpret results and provide insights to guide decision-making and improve engineering processes.

  5. Support Engineering Operations: Provide assistance with day-to-day engineering tasks, such as component selection, parts sourcing, and assembly. Contribute to troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts as needed.

  6. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and regulatory requirements applicable to marine engineering activities. Promote a culture of safety awareness and compliance within the engineering team.

  7. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other departments, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and procurement, to ensure seamless integration of engineering solutions into overall product development processes.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Engineering, preferably with a focus on marine engineering, naval architecture, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong academic background in relevant engineering disciplines, including fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, materials science, and structural analysis.
  • Proficiency in engineering software tools such as CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software, MATLAB, ANSYS, or similar programs.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically and creatively.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Passion for the marine industry and a desire to contribute to the advancement of marine technology.
  • Prior internship or work experience in engineering, preferably in the marine industry, is a plus.
