International SOS Government Medical Services Inc is Hiring a Registered Nurse Risk Manager (RN) Near Washington, DC

Overall Purpose Of The Job:

This position is in support of the ICE Health Services Corps (IHSC) whose mission is to provide medical care to maintain the health of individuals in the custody of ICE through an integrated health care delivery system, based on nationally recognized correctional, detention and residential health care standards. The Agency is committed to providing healthcare services to protect the nation’s health, reduce global disease and provide medical support for the law enforcement mission of the safe apprehension, enforcement and removal of detained individuals involved in immigration proceedings. IHSC is committed to ensuring a system of care that is ethical, responsible, and accountable through rigorous surveillance and monitoring activities.

Location:

Onsite: Washington, DC

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enforce risk management program initiatives, and enact the changes in clinical practice, policy and

procedures to preserve the agency’s assets, reputation and quality of care.

  • Provide policy guidance, consultation and review of sentinel events.
  • Develop, review and revise policies and guides related to risk management annually, or as necessary

to reduce mitigating risks to the agency.

  • Monitoring and training on the incident reporting electronic tool.
  • Participate in the development of risk management activities, e.g. root cause analysis (RCA) of

incidents that occurred in the facilities and provide proactive risk reduction strategies.

  • Collect data, monitor trends and report results to the Compliance and Risk Management Program

Manager and/or Chief, Medical Quality Management.

  • Ensure established standards of care are monitored in ICE facilities as well as in contract detention

facilities and jails throughout the United States.

  • Maintain accountability and monitoring of risk management activities and assist in identifying areas for

improvement.

Job Profile:

Experience Required:

  • Verbal and written proficiency in Spanish (preferred, not required).
  • Experience in a detention/correctional or residential healthcare setting (preferred, not required).

Education Required:
_Degree issuing institution and or program must be accredited by an entity recognized by the U.S. Department of
Education_

  • Graduate from a associate's or baccalaureate nursing program for Registered Nurses located in a State,

the District of Columbia, or a U.S. territory accredited by The Accreditation Commission For Education in
Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

  • Advanced degree (e.g. MA, MS) from a recognized accredited institution (preferred).
  • Experience related to healthcare quality management, administration and /or health program management.
  • Certification in Healthcare Quality or Risk Management or able to obtain certification with on year of employment. (Our company will pay for this certification).

Required Licenses / Certifications

  • Current, full and unrestricted licensed as Registered Nurse in the state in which the duty station is

located. Any changes to license must be reported to employer immediately.

  • This position does not require privileging by IHSC.
  • Maintains BLS for Healthcare Providers® certification through the American Heart Association®.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of National Detention Standards (NDS), Performance-based National Detention

Standards (PBNDS) and Family Residential Standards (FRS), National Commission of Correctional
Healthcare (NCCHC) and American Correctional Association (ACA).

  • Ability to navigate in an electronic work environment including electronic health records, web based

training and communications.

  • Knowledge of, and moderate proficiency in, common Microsoft Office programs, specifically Microsoft

Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint.

  • Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records

and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

  • Ability to interact well and collaborate with all levels of personnel and management in IHSC, ERO,

ICE and DHS offices, and with federal GS employees, Commissioned Corps officers and contractors.

  • Demonstrate strong organization and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Cultural competency and interpersonal skills.
  • 5 years of experience is required.
  • Must have supervisor experience.
  • Must have risk management experience.

Duty Hours / ON-Call Requirements

  • This full-time position requires availability to workdays during normal business hours.
  • There are no on call requirements for this position.

Security Requirements

  • The Department of Homeland Security’s Personnel Security Unit (PSU) must render an Initial

Preliminary Favorable Fitness Determination to be considered a qualified candidate.

  • A Complete Favorable Fitness Determination must be rendered by PSU upon completion of initial, and

between, subsequent background investigations to meet the requirements of this position.

Physical Demands

  • Physically capable of performing duties and responsibilities as listed above.
  • Sitting for prolonged periods of time.
  • Frequent use of common office technology such as the computer, telephone etc.
  • Ability to lift, carry and move up to 30 lbs.

Travel / Rotation Requirements

  • Up to 15%
