Integration Innovation, Inc. is Hiring a Graphic Designer Near Huntsville, AL

Overview

i3 is looking for a Graphic Designer to help craft clean gameplay UI, crisp 2D elements, on-brand motion graphics, and more that align with game-based products in the Unity Game engine.

Responsibilities

As a Graphic Designer, they will be responsible for supporting a variety of interactive, game-based products based in the Unity game engine. They will work with highly skilled and motivated delivery teams made of Software Engineers, 3D artists, and Tech Leads to imagine, test, build, and deploy multi-platform, customer facing software — and have a blast doing it. It’s energizing. And it’s good work.

i3’s ideal candidate is responsible for supporting a variety of design efforts on these interactive, game-based products, validating their efforts with Game Design Tech Leads, Design Leads, and Development leads. They are responsible for the accurate implementation of their eventual designs into the Unity game engine, as well, and work closely with the Software Engineers to ensure this. Alongside the design of gameplay UI elements, the Graphic Designer may also be responsible for the creation of a variety of multimedia that supports these projects in cool ways, such as illustration, poster art, re-skinning web/mobile/ desktop applications, on-brand clean-up of schematics and diagrams, photo touchup, editorial layouts and more. This role sits at the crossroads of practical design and artistic expression. The Graphic Designer will ensure the balance between both.

The candidate will workshop their efforts with the Design and Technical Leads weekly to ensure the design and implementation of UI/UX follows established standards and best practices and will report daily to the Game Design Tech Lead for on-the-floor direction, progress updates, and other needs as projects determine.

Our ideal also candidate has a portfolio that demonstrates the core competencies of a Graphic Designer. In fact, it is required that you submit an online portfolio and/or website of your work with your application

While the best portfolios typically display a proficiency in web design and mobile apps, other efforts in motion graphics, branding and logomark design, high-profile print design, marketing projects with whiz-bang design efforts, collaborations with other folks, and video work all won’t hurt. We also recommend case studies and galleries as a plus!

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration with software engineers, development teams, design leads and other stakeholders.
  • Illustrate design ideas using wireframes, process flows, and sitemaps.
  • Successfully apply wireframes, process flows, and sitemaps to create prototypes, mockups, and final compositions to show and demonstrate UI/UX.
  • Provide feedback to developers as UI/UX is implemented to ensure the experience is cohesive and accurate.
  • Prepare and help guide software engineers on the implementation of UI/UX designs into the Unity game engine.
  • Provide feedback to developers regularly as designs are implemented to ensure user experience is cohesive and accurate.
  • Report to the Game Design Tech Lead and Design Leads daily on progress and blocks.
  • Regularly workshop UI/UX with the Design and Tech Leads to maintain and follow established best practices and guidelines with high fidelity deliverables, designs and user experience of the digital product.
  • Iterate quickly and flexibly
  • Leverage design thinking and questioning techniques to develop strategies where pathways are not always clear

Qualifications

Required experience, skills, and traits:

  • Bachelors’ Degree with at least (0-2) years’ experience in graphic design or equivalent professional experience of at least four (4) years professional experience in graphic design (such as desktop, enterprise, web, mobile, motion graphics (a plus!), branding and logo design, etc.) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Working knowledge and skill in design tools, for example, Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, After Effects, and/or other Adobe Creative Suite products, as well as optional (but not required; see Preferred below) prototyping tool like Sketch, Figma, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex concepts clearly and persuasively across audiences at various levels of understanding.
  • Attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with other designers and developers to implement new ideas.

Preferred experience, skills, and traits:

  • Working knowledge and/or understanding of prototyping tools like Adobe XD, Sketch, Figma, etc.
  • Experience outside UI/UX that demonstrates a variability of design skills.
  • Understanding and appreciation of standard user interface design concepts.
  • Understanding of foundational design principles and practices, typography and color, and multi-device usability standards.
  • Previous experience with human-centered design principles and practices, typography and color, and multi-device usability standards.

 Portfolio requirements:

  • Submit a resume and a link to a portfolio of work and/or website that shows your design chops.
