Overview

i3 is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team for a once in a lifetime opportunity developing a unique and cutting-edge ground test facility. This new capability is being developed by a group of leading defense industry contractors across the United States and the task is to construct the first of its kind Hypersonic Wind Tunnel Test Facility. Project Phoenix represents a multi-million-dollar project involving the development, fabrication, system integration, implementation, and check out of a large-scale wind tunnel test facility to support hypersonic system technology maturation. This position is located in Huntsville, AL.

Responsibilities

• Participate in project/program technical risk analysis and mitigation.
• Develop design calculations, load calculations, heat trace studies, installation drawings, conduit layouts, distribution drawings, construction drawings, and specifications.
• Development of contractor Statements of Work (SOW) and/or engineering instructions.
• Monitor supplier performance to ensure system integration and maintain compliance with project and system requirements.
• Develop equipment test conditions and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) plans for equipment procurement.
• Design detailed electronic hardware circuitry, systems, and/or test equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with electronic components, systems, and test equipment.
• Build and maintain project schedules and ensure tasks get completed on time with both internal and external resources.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 3 Years of applicable experience designing and/or consulting.
• Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
• Ability to travel to suppliers and Tullahoma, TN as necessary to support mission requirements (~25%).
• Strong communication and technical writing skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision once given guidance by lead engineers.
• Demonstrated ability for developing design calculations, construction drawings, and specifications.
• Experience with MV Substations and energy storage systems.
• Experience performing power system automation.
• Experience developing and/or maintaining low, medium, and high voltage systems.

Desired:

• Experience with 3D modeling software such as Revit, AutoCAD, CADWorx, SolidWorks, and NavisWorks.
• Power system modeling experience using ETAP, SKM Power Tools, or similar modeling software.
• Experience with microgrids and power distribution systems.
• Experience with large-scale industrial facilities.
