Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Chess Teacher to join our team. As a Chess Teacher, you will be responsible for introducing, instructing, and fostering a love for the game of chess amongst students in grades K-4. This position aims to develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and strategic thinking while providing a fun and engaging learning environment.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Build a classroom culture in which scholars develop a love for chess and enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Plan and deliver chess lessons that cater to various skill levels and abilities of middle school students.
• Teach students the basic rules, moves, and tactics of chess through interactive and engaging methods.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of students during chess classes and events
• Enforce school policies and rules to maintain a safe and respectful learning environment
• Invest parents by coordinating and leading family chess nights and internal network chess tournaments
• Engage in training and collaborating with chess teachers and leaders across the network to benefit from targeted feedback and professional development related to instruction and content

A ChessTeacher should posess:

• Teaching Experience (including homeschooling, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, and other experiences) is preferred
• Teaching certification is preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and school staff.
• Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for teaching chess and fostering intellectual growth in young minds.
