Job Summary

Mesa Community College has been awarded a Title V Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions (DHSI) grant for a 5-year period. The Students & Employees Nurtured & Developed for Academic Success (SENDAS) Project aims to enhance and integrate student support; create a robust professional development program for faculty and staff; and develop a more inclusive hiring process. This grant-funded position will focus primarily on STEM and Computer Science programs of study and will be responsible for coordinating student preparation and persistence efforts to narrow the gap of attrition and improve overall student success. The coordinator will work with college and grant personnel to meet the SENDAS activity objectives and goals in a timely manner. Primary responsibilities include coordinating academic preparation boot camps for STEM and computer science courses and the implementation of academic support interventions to support students throughout the school year.
Essential Functions

40% - Under the supervision of the director, coordinates student persistence and success efforts for STEM and Computer Science students; formulates research based decisions regarding the development of programs and services; assists in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of student support systems; collaborates with faculty and staff to provide programming; researches information related to student success strategy instruction and assists with curricula design and development; monitors developing trends and available services and makes recommendations relevant to student success
30% - Coordinates, plans, implements, and manages project activities related to the SENDAS grant including boot camps and other academic supports including contextualized student success strategy instruction and/or peer study groups; helps market project activities to students in conjunction with grant personnel and academic departments
25% - Establishes partnerships for SENDAS program development; collects, monitors and evaluates data; recommends and assists in the design of program elements such as, but not limited to, student recruitment, retention and tracking strategies; assists in preparing, administering, and collecting assessment information; creates collaboration with college coordinators in the industry; develops and embed field trips within the STEM boot camps; and provides academic direction to participating students.
5% - Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, computer science, or a related program area and one year of full-time equivalent program coordination experience.
OR
Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in a STEM or computer science-related program area and three years of full-time equivalent program coordination experience.
OR
High School Diploma/GED and five years of full-time equivalent program coordination experience.
Desired Qualifications

A. Master's Degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, computer science, data analytics, education or a related field.
B. One (1) or more years of teaching experience in a secondary or postsecondary educational setting.
C. Experience developing curricular and/or co-curricular materials/activities in collaboration with faculty.
D. Experience designing and presenting workshops on academic or student success topics.
E. Experience supervising, training, and evaluating the work of others.
F. Two (2) years of experience collecting, interpreting, and/or presenting statistical data.
Special Working Conditions

May require occasional work in the evening or on weekends.
May require lifting items weighing up to 20 pounds.
May be required to work at multiple sites or locations.
