Insight is Hiring a Math Teacher Near Chicago, IL

At the Sylvester Broome Empowerment Village, our mission is to cultivate leadership capacity. Our programs in Academics, Athletics, and the Arts are taught by local professionals who dedicate their time to reinvesting their skills and knowledge and giving back to the youth. Through developing and investing in our youth, we aim to transform Flint into a just and equitable city.
Job Summary:
Our motivated and approachable Certified Teacher will help inspire and collaborate with our youth and staff to help promote a positive and nurturing environment for our community and students to thrive within. This Math Teacher will communicate with other internal staff members and professionals outside the organization, therefore a heavy emphasis on professionalism is desired. The Math Teacher will assist in planning and executing mathematics related curriculum and this person will also work with our students in setting goals, writing lesson plans, reporting metrics and collecting data to help foster continued growth with our students.
Shift: 20 hours per week
Duties:
  • Effectively plans and outlines lessons with teachers 
  • Plan according to “Anchor Standards”
  • Implements lesson plans with students and/or small groups 
  • Reports weekly, or as needed, to the teacher or Director of Education. student achievements, needs or concerns
  • Proficiently read, write and demonstrate applicable techniques with respective students 
  • Communicates in an effective manner to parents regarding successes or needs of students 
  • The subject area instructor will teach standards with an integrated theme and include visuals/arts.
  • Teaching staff will implement all procedures and will be responsible for the learning and safety of all students 
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrates eligibility to work for any employer in the U.S.
  • High School Diploma, or GED equivalent required
  • Associates or Bachelors degree desired
  • Teaching certification strongly preferred; previous experience required
  • Previous experience within a classroom setting is preferred
  • Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment while maintaining positive energy.
  • Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for professional advancement.
  • Able to work compassionately with students and coworkers
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm and drive. 
  • Exudes respect and flexibility to impact the workplace in a positive manner.
  • Detailed oriented, conscientious and committed to precision in work results. 
  • Ability to perform to a high level of accuracy
