Summary of Position

Supports the Manufacturing Engineering team in improving manufacturing systems or related processes. Assists the team to create, document, develop and implement manufacturing processes to drive continuous improvement and execute real time problem resolution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of machining and fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, product design, materials and operator input.
  • Provide support related to manufacturing with emphasis on fixtures, tooling, and CNC equipment.
  • Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations.
  • Review product designs for manufacturability and completeness.
  • Prepare documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures.
  • Evaluate manufactured products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Design layout of equipment or workspaces to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Design testing methods and test finished products or process capabilities to establish standards or validate process requirements.
  • Read current literature, talk with colleagues, participate in educational programs, attend meetings, attend workshops, or participate in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in the field.
  • Prepare reports summarizing information or trends related to manufacturing performance.
  • Assist in troubleshooting new and existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes.
  • Create drawings to support in-house machining, assembly, paint, and grinding.
  • Update drawings, machine programs and operator instructions.
  • Assist engineers with developing and detailing fixture design and implementation.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts, such as geometric and trig functions. Apply mathematical equations to practical situations.
  • Successfully execute a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Work within a team environment. Support and execute team decisions.
  • Demonstrates excellence in completion of all other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements / Certifications Undertaking a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or other related field. Associates degree in an Engineering Design related discipline also acceptable. Superior analytical and problem solving skills Excellent communication, project management and organizational skills. Must be capable to work in a fast paced, creative, results-oriented atmosphere. Experience / Skill Requirements 2D and 3D CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, etc.) and CAD/CAM (CAMworks, Mastercam, etc.) experience preferred. Microsoft Suite software experience required (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, etc.) Physical Requirements Stand/ walk for long period of time, both indoor and outdoor. Working environment temperatures vary substantially. Must be able to stand on feet for up to 8 hours. Regular use of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Close visual acuity to create/read schematics, drawings and/or a computer screen.
