About The Job
Infrastructure Engineering Inc. (IEI) is looking for Project Engineer - Civil to join our Indianapolis office Team! We are a leading engineering firm known for quality and responsiveness. The Project Engineer will work with one of our Project Managers to develop design concepts incorporated into the final product. Work is conducted in a team environment and coordinated with other disciplines.

What You’ll Do
May sign and seal assigned projects and project documents self-prepared or under direct supervision.
Prepares complex design computations, plans, and related construction documents.
Prepares complex quantity and cost estimates.
Prepares complex reports, studies, and permits for various projects.
Analyzes and interprets a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
Prepares engineering and design documents using computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment.
Coordinates staff activities to ensure project budget, schedule, and quality goals are achieved.
Assists in the review and preparation of engineering agreements for projects.
Attends client and public meetings as necessary.
Assists in handling contract administration with clients and sub-consultants.
Monitors work‐in‐process and assists in directing and/or supervising of the work of other engineers’ activities on projects.
May assist in client invoicing and monitors outstanding accounts receivable and collection efforts on projects.
May serve as an onsite project representative and/or provide construction observation duties in the field.
Visits construction site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents.
Ensures that project documents and files are organized.
Prepares and presents technical information to colleagues and clients.
Assists Project, Design, and/or Office Managers as requested.
Other duties as assigned.
To Be Successful
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited four‐year college or university or approved equivalent is required.
At least 4 years of roadway design experience, preferably with INDOT.
Active registered Professional Engineer or Structural Engineer desired.
Must possess an EIT license in the absence of a license with a defined path and schedule to obtaining licensure.
Other licensure or registration may be considered in lieu of Professional Engineer or Structural Engineer licensure.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
Fundamental knowledge of structural engineering.
Proven leadership skills with engineering staff and organizations.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Strong team player in a multi-disciplinary environment who can work on and contribute to several projects simultaneously.

Work Conditions
Usually works in outside weather conditions.
Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions or in-progress construction hazards: fumes, toxic chemicals, risk of electric shock, and vibration. Often works around dust, asphalt, and concrete.
Must be physically capable of walking and moving about on the construction sites, have good hand-eye coordination, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
Spends some time working indoors to review blueprints and write reports.
Usually works a standard 40-hour workweek either daytime or nighttime.
Sometimes needs to put in extra hours, including weekends, to keep up with intense construction work at times and deal with unexpected situations and accidents.
IEI will provide a company vehicle for fieldwork with acceptable driver's record.
