Information Technology Services Office is Hiring an Information Technology Specialist 2, ref #4863M Near New York, NY

Reassignment: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Information Technology Specialist 2.
Section 70.4 Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title allocated SG-16 or higher eligible to transfer under Section 70.4 of the Civil Service Law.
55b/c Appointment: This position is eligible for 55b/c designation and candidates with 55 b/c eligibility are encouraged to apply. Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications and a current 55b/c eligibility letter. For 55 b/c consideration, candidates must satisfy at least one of the following:
Either 1. a bachelor's or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science;
Or 2. a bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field AND one year of experience in information technology;
Or 3. 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science AND one year of experience in information technology;
Or 4. two years of experience in information technology.

Duties Description
Under the direction of an Information Technology Specialist 3, SG-23, within the Chief Technology Office, Innovation and Engineering Services, User Experience section, the Information Technology Specialist 2, SG-18, will be responsible for improving the usability of New York State's websites and applications through user experience research with New York State residents.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Plan and conduct formative user research such as surveys, interviews, contextual inquiries, conceptual walkthroughs, etc.
  • Plan and conduct project research such as expert interviews, journey mapping, user needs modeling, etc.
  • Plan and conduct summative user research such as usability testing, field testing, usability assessments, data analysis, etc.
  • Implement the collection of quantitative and qualitative UX metrics that support business KPIs.
  • Create UX Research deliverables such as persona, user profile creation, usability reports, etc.
  • Perform UX design work and create standard deliverables: task analysis, sketches, storyboards, wireframes, user stories, user flows, prototypes, etc.

Positions located in New York City, will receive an additional $3,203 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary.
