**Job Description:**
**Overview:**
As a Cloud Solution Architect, you will be responsible for designing and implementing a cloud-based solution for migrating an Oracle database to Amazon Web Services (AWS). Additionally, you will evaluate alternative database providers and recommend the best-fit solution based on technical requirements and business objectives.
**Responsibilities:**
1. **Solution Design:** Collaborate with project stakeholders to understand business requirements and technical constraints. Design a scalable and cost-effective solution for migrating the Oracle database to AWS, considering factors such as performance, security, and compliance.
2. **AWS Architecture:** Architect AWS infrastructure components to support the migration project, including compute instances, storage solutions, networking configurations, and security controls. Design high-availability and disaster recovery mechanisms to ensure business continuity.
3. **Database Evaluation:** Evaluate alternative database providers to Oracle, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Microsoft SQL Server. Assess the suitability of each provider based on performance, features, licensing, and compatibility with AWS services.
4. **Migration Strategy:** Develop a migration strategy for moving the Oracle database to AWS, considering factors such as data replication, schema conversion, and application compatibility. Design automated migration workflows to streamline the migration process and minimize downtime.
5. **Cost Optimization:** Optimize AWS resource usage to minimize costs while meeting performance and scalability requirements. Recommend cost-saving strategies such as reserved instances, spot instances, and instance right-sizing.
6. **Security and Compliance:** Implement security best practices to protect sensitive data and comply with industry regulations. Design security controls such as encryption, access controls, and network segmentation to safeguard the cloud infrastructure.
7. **Performance Tuning:** Monitor and optimize the performance of the cloud infrastructure and database systems. Identify performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations to improve throughput, latency, and resource utilization.
8. **Documentation and Training:** Create technical documentation, architectural diagrams, and best practice guidelines for the migrated solution. Provide training and guidance to project teams and stakeholders on cloud architecture and best practices.
**Qualifications:**
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
- Extensive experience designing and implementing cloud solutions on AWS.
- Strong expertise in database technologies, including Oracle and alternative providers.
- AWS certification such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional.
- Experience with cloud migration projects, including database migrations and lift-and-shift migrations.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
