Role Information
This position is responsible for supporting the technical needs of the cumene unit and implementing capital projects to improve the site; meeting goals safely and effectively in accordance with company policies and all environmental regulations. A large part of this role is to function as a project engineer and project manager for small capital projects, responsible for the technical aspects as well as project execution.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
SHE Stewardship
o Maintain safety as the highest priority and adhere to, as well as promote, the Life Saving Rules.
o Understand and promote the INEOS "20 Principles".
o Assist in meeting regulatory requirements assigned to the facility including EPA/Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), OSHA, and DOT regulations.
o Complete MOC for projects, ensure hazards are assessed and training and PSSR are complete before start-up.
Work Duties
o Learn the process technology and unit operations, investigate opportunities for energy and emission reduction, and improve site systems and procedures.
o Support future process modifications and expansions.
o Provide technical support to the Production Engineer and Operations group as needed.
o Interface with all levels of management, maintenance and operations personnel.
o Assist in the implementation to achieve, and keep up with PSM.
o Review and approve as appropriate all detailed project engineering deliverables.
o Write reports to document project progress and to identify problems with the project.
o Set up and participate in inspection activities and equipment testing.
o Follow up on project implementation progress and contingency run down.
o Coordinate safety walk downs and all punch list activities for projects.
o Assist in developing the site CapEx plan and prepare cost analysis for potential projects.
o Verify that detailed engineering is done in accordance with all documents, plans, specifications, descriptions and procedures during all stages of the project.
o Assist in procurement and construction activities.
o Participate in development and implementation of pre-commissioning and commissioning plan.
o Organize close out of projects with all plant departments.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Education/Experience
o BS Chemical Engineering Degree
o 7-10 years of relevant experience in plant/project roles
Skills/Competencies
o Self-starter
o Able to work to propose solutions with minimal guidance
o Problem solving
o High level of communication skills both written and verbal
o Budgeting and cost control
o SAP and CAD experience are a plus

Physical Requirements
o Ability to wear required PPE: Hardhat, safety glasses, chemical goggles, rigid safety shoes/boots, full/half face cartridge masks.
o Ability to climb several flights of stairs.
o Ability to climb fixed ladder cages at heights of 30 ft. at a time.
o Understanding of proper lifting techniques and body mechanics: Climbing, balance, bend/stoop, kneeling, reaching, lifting, carrying.
Possible Conditions to be Subjected to:
Sedentary Work with occasional field study. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions primarily and occasional exposure to outside elements.
