Job Summary: The Regional Safety Manager is a field-based position responsible for overseeing safety initiatives and compliance within a designated region. This role involves implementing safety programs, conducting audits, providing training, and promoting a culture of safety across multiple locations. The Regional Safety Manager collaborates closely with site managers, employees, and corporate safety teams to ensure adherence to safety regulations, mitigate risks, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Safety Program Implementation:
  • Develop and implement safety programs and initiatives tailored to the specific needs of each location within the region.
  • Ensure that safety policies, procedures, and practices are effectively communicated and consistently applied across all sites.
  • Collaborate with corporate safety teams to align regional safety initiatives with organizational goals and standards.
  • Safety Audits and Inspections:
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections at each site within the region to assess compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Identify safety hazards, potential risks, and areas for improvement, and develop action plans to address findings.
  • Provide guidance and support to site managers in implementing corrective actions and preventive measures.
  • Training and Education:
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, supervisors, and managers within the region.
  • Cover topics such as hazard recognition, emergency response, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor training completion rates and effectiveness, and make adjustments as needed to ensure compliance and competence.
  • Incident Investigation and Reporting:
  • Lead and oversee investigations into safety incidents, accidents, and near misses within the region.
  • Analyze root causes of incidents, identify contributing factors, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Prepare and submit detailed incident reports to corporate safety teams and regulatory authorities as required.
  • Safety Culture Promotion:
  • Champion a culture of safety and accountability at all levels of the organization within the region.
  • Engage with employees to promote safety awareness, encourage participation in safety initiatives, and recognize safety achievements.
  • Foster open communication channels for reporting safety concerns, suggestions, and feedback.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Stay abreast of relevant safety regulations, standards, and industry best practices applicable to the region.
  • Ensure that all sites within the region maintain compliance with local, state, and federal safety requirements.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies as needed and represent the organization during inspections and inquiries.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, CSHM) preferred.
  • Proven experience in safety management, with a focus on field operations and multi-site oversight.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel frequently within the region and occasionally nationally as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence change and drive continuous improvement in safety performance.
