Indiana Youth Institute is Hiring a Remote Accounting Coordinator

Indiana Youth Institute is looking for an Accounting Coordinator who:

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Accounting Coordinator is responsible for accounting-related tasks, including posting and processing accounts payable, invoicing, bank deposits, account reconciliations and other finance/accounting-related duties. The Accounting Coordinator will also be responsible for any needed supply ordering, office mail, and upkeep of accounting records in IYI’s database. In addition, this role contributes to the effective operation of the team with attention to detail, timely follow-through, collaboration, and a growth mindset.

Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  •  Prepare month-end journal entries and account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accruals, and deferred revenue in accordance with GAAP (General Accepted Accounting Policies).
  • Receive and record all organizational revenue; monitor accounts receivable.
  • Manage IYI’s vendors, including annual 1099 reporting.
  • Process and pay all invoices in a timely manner reviewing account coding for accuracy.
  • Assist in preparation of year-end audit and Internal Revenue Service 990 filing.
  • Support CFO and management in development and analysis of annual organization budget and quarterly forecasts.
  • Maintain accounting procedures and policies and systems of internal controls to ensure the integrity of all financial systems.
  • Support and participate in organizational events as requested.
  • Serve as a backup to other finance team members.
  • Perform non-routine tasks requiring strong judgment and initiative and other duties as assigned.
  • 1-3 years experience working in accounting or bookkeeping.
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct accounting system a plus.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel as experience with Salesforce platform.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail, effective communication, and problem-solving are all critical skills for success in this role.
  • Ability to multitask to effectively monitor and track several projects at once to ensure accuracy and quality of work.

 Core skills needed (but are not limited to):

  • The ability to work with confidential information, financial transactions, and reports are essential.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to read and gather research.

Compensation and Benefits: 

 IYI offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position. The salary range for this position is $45,000-$50,000. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range of minimum and midpoint depending on experience and in alignment with internal equity. We offer a comprehensive benefits plan, covering the majority of the employee premium for the base medical plan and offering other benefits including dental and vision plans, disability, life insurance, generous vacation time, professional development, and a 403(b) plan.
