Seeking a highly effective HR Manager to lead the Human Resources function in the company’s largest manufacturing operation in its largest market outside of Japan. The Manager of Human Resources will report to the Vice President of Human Resources, and directly supervises the HR department of ten, or less, team members.
Key Responsibilities
• Partner with local Top Senior Management to establish and implement strategies and processes intended to develop the company’s most critical resource: its people.
• Administer company-wide initiatives as leader of HR Functions such as: talent acquisition, performance management, employee engagement, compensation strategies and planning, bonus programs, benefits, training, development, talent management and other cross-functional programs.
• Serve as the HR subject-matter expert on the Management Team
• Participate in the development and lead the execution of HR strategy, establishing and monitoring key metrics, and using data to drive activities, decisions, and countermeasures.
• As the lead HR professional, champion the use of data to identify, prioritize, and act on opportunities to enhance effectiveness, culture, and morale.
• Act as the ambassador of culture, values, work environment and behaviors.
• Lead in culture change initiatives involving organizational changes.
• Sponsor other programs that drive employee engagement and retention.
• Manage and improve internal controls that ensure confidentiality of personal and privileged information, including personal data and disciplinary measures.
• Partner with outside legal counsel, and ensure company is in compliance with all applicable employment law.
• Act as the primary contact in dealings with Federal and state governmental agencies in seeking resolution of employment charges and complaints.
• Provide resources, leadership and counsel regarding equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Candidate Profile
Education and Certification/License Credentials
• Bachelor’s Degree required (MBA equivalent in related field is preferred, but not required.)
• Various HR related certifications is preferred but not required
Functional Competencies
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive human resources experience, including 3 years in a senior manufacturing human resources leadership role.
• Demonstrated examples of success within a senior HR role and ideally with a manufacturing setting.
• Human Resources experience at a large manufacturing operation (500 employees) is required. (Automotive industry and/or Japanese company experience highly beneficial.)
• Strong business, analytics, and HR acumen, including strong problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge and practical application of HR disciplines including employment and labor laws, negotiations, employee relations, management, and leadership development. Experience with positive employee relations preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of talent management and HR practices, policies, and laws.
Leadership and Management
• Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present confidently and effectively to various audiences, of various sizes.
• Ability to work well under pressure, manage competing demands, and meet tight deadlines, working outside normal Monday through Friday business hours as responsibilities require.
• Experience building or improving a dedicated Human Resource function for a growing company with solid management skills to lead a team and department.
