IndeVets is looking for a well-rounded Regional Medical Director to join our clinical leadership team. The Regional Medical Director (RMD) is responsible for practicing high-quality medicine in Partner Hospitals while managing Area Medical Director reports and helping to build and maintain the community of Associate IndeVets in his or her region. 

The RMD works closely with the Chief Veterinary Officer to help IndeVets achieve the company’s operational, clinical, and culture-related goals. The RMD has the important job of telling the IndeVets’ story and showing the region why Associate IndeVets are a highly competent and nice addition to their veterinary teams! 

Key responsibilities:

Practice high-quality veterinary medicine in Partner Hospitals. The Regional Medical Director is, first and foremost, an excellent clinician. As an RMD, you’ll practice clinical about 5 hours/week, or 20/hours a month.

The rest of your time will be spend providing outstanding leadership and strategic support.

As a medical leader you’ll…

  • Ensure current Area Medical Directors (AMDs) and Associate IndeVets have what they need to practice excellent veterinary medicine.
  • Perform medical record reviews and annual reviews on direct reports.
  • Shadow each AMD direct report annually. 
  • Gather and act on feedback from Partner Hospitals to ensure our doctors demonstrate our core values of being highly competent and nice. 
  • Act as a liaison to the Hospital Success Team to drive continued improvement between Associate IndeVets and our Partner Hospitals. 
  • Support the new graduate mentorship program as defined by the Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO).
  • Assist with recruiting and interviewing potential new veterinarian hires (including new graduates).
  • Facilitate the hiring and onboarding of new Area Medical Directors. 

As part of the Clinical Leadership Team, you’ll…

  • Assist with writing and maintaining clinical protocols and clinical SOPs. 
  • Assist with identifying retention risks and managing retention programs. 
  • Respond to clinical questions on our community web forum. 
  • Create appropriate medical content (blogs, videos, training modules, etc.) and act as a clinical advisor to other company departments. 
  • Set agendas and help run weekly clinical meetings. 

As a strategic leader, you’ll…

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to the AMDs and Associate IndeVets in your region. 
  • Conduct research and support the CVO in determining new revenue streams.
  • Assist in providing new opportunities for continuing education for Associate IndeVets. 
  • With the AMDs, ensure all Associate IndeVets in your region uphold the company’s standards, mission, culture, and core values.
  • Attend at least one major veterinary conference each year to recruit and network, as well as other industry or IndeVets’ events as needed.
  • Act as the regional point of contact for all legal and regulatory issues pertaining to the practice of relief veterinary medicine; ensure Associate IndeVet compliance with local, state, and federal laws. 
  • Act as a substitute for the CVO as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of full-time, general small animal practice experience 
  • 5 years of experience leading a team and supervising / mentoring veterinarians
  • Comfort with technology and web meetings
  • Ability to travel at least once monthly in a defined geographic region, including a requirement to travel to headquarters in Philadelphia either quarterly and/or semi-annually
  • Required to be state licensed, hold a DEA license (and a controlled substance registration, if applicable) in the state in which they live, and be ProHeart and Fear Free Level I certifiedMBA a plus
  • Experience in relief veterinary medicine a plus
  • Previous experience in a rapidly growing, entrepreneurial environment preferred
