Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the timely and accurate verification and reconciliation of all monthly investment trading activity recorded in a third-party investment accounting system. This includes reconciling ending investment holdings, market values, income and cash between custodian banks, investment accounting system and general ledger.
• Responsible for posting monthly investment accounting journal entries and providing monthly reporting to internal business partners in Treasury, GAAP Reporting, Tax Department, etc.
• Responsible for understanding the GAAP requirements for investment disclosure and completing the annual GAAP disclosures for the consolidated audited financial statements. Also responsible for providing GAAP disclosures for annual stand-alone audited financial statements.
• Responsible for completing required quarterly and annual Statutory investment schedules, exhibits and disclosures
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis. Identify and communicate action plan for clearing reconciling items to management.
• Prepare monthly investment income, realized gain(loss) and balance sheet fluctuation analysis for senior management
• Participate in implementation of new processes to meet changing reporting requirements for investments on a GAAP and STAT basis
• Participate in Investment Accounting and Corporate Accounting process improvement projects
• Provide requested investment related data and information to internal and external auditors as needed
• Effectively communicate with business partners across the company to ensure accurate reporting of investments and their impact to the income statement

QUALIFICATIONS

• BS/BA in Accounting
• CPA with public accounting/audit experience a plus
• Five or more years of accounting experience for a health insurance or comparable industry (size and complexity) or comparable function
• Working Knowledge of US GAAP and Statutory specific practices/procedures associated with accounting for investments a plus
• Working knowledge of various investment security instruments, a definite plus
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Strong Microsoft Office skills especially Excel
• Working knowledge of supporting technologies and large ERP systems
• Two to four years of progression in responsibilities and experience in accounting
