Position Description: This position will contact clients and collect outstanding payments in accordance with federal and state regulations, company policies, and standard internal control procedures. The candidate must have excellent communication and negotiation skills, be able to work in a fast-paced environment, and be detail oriented with a continuous-improvement mindset. The candidate must exhibit professionalism and trustworthiness. Natural motivation, positive attitude/aptitude, and an outstanding attention to detail are recommended, as well as performing all other duties assigned.
Responsibilities: Monitor accounts to identify outstanding debts. Investigate historical data for each debt or bill. Find and contact clients to ask about their overdue payments, taking actions to encourage timely payments. Process payments, deposits, and refunds. Resolve billing and customer credit issues. Process supplier agreements. Work with outside collection agency when needed. Report on aging, collection activity, and accounts receivable status. Process taxes, W-9 forms, and other government forms as needed. Apply payments to projects. Process wire transfers. Complete company insurance forms. Process credit references, both outgoing and incoming. Process liens and lien waivers. Assist in month-end closing. Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices. Follow and enforce strict safety regulations. Assist with other projects as needed.
Requirements: 3 years of credit/collections experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment. Strong math and analytical skills. Patience and ability to manage stress. Detail oriented.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Account reconciliation. Knowledge of sales tax regulations. Must have a strong work ethic. Knowledge of billing procedures and collection techniques. Comfortable taking on additional responsibilities as needed. Skilled in negotiation and problem-solving. Ability to work with minimum supervision. Must be well organized and a self-starter. Ability to work in a team environment and/or on an individual basis. Solid verbal and written communication skills. Ability to follow standard filing procedures. Flexible and capable of successfully performing in a fast-paced environment.
