The Controller provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data; preparing reports. The position is responsible also for the ongoing analysis of process constraints, target costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities. Additionally, will construct and monitor those cost-effective data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of costing information to management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepares monthly financial statements and balance sheets.
• Establishes and maintains cash controls and reconciling of general ledgers and bank statements.
• Works closely with management in the preparation of the annual budget and annual audit.
• Reconciles payable accounts, receivable accounts and preparing journal summaries.
• Ensures compliance with the financial procedures of the organization.
• Conducts ongoing process constraint analyses.
• Reports on breakeven points by products.
• Reports on margins by product.
• Reports on periodic variances and their causes, focusing in particular on spending variances.
• Analyzes capital budgeting requests.
• Performs cost accumulation tasks as a member of the target costing group.
• Adheres to and implements the financial procedures and policies established by management.
• Monitors data entry systems and procedures.
• Verifies charges and ensures security of all credit card expenses.
• Maintains financial files and records, according to established procedures.
• Maintains records pertaining to the financial systems.
• Issues, coding and authorizing purchase orders.
• Assists with tax compliance as needed.
• Compiles source documents.
• Reconciles source deposits.
• Direct and supervise the staff within the accounting department, leading them to develop themselves and their roles by providing leadership on future education and professional development opportunities.
• Lead changes in the accounting department to improve accuracy and efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

Minimum of 5 years of Accounting Experience

Thorough knowledge of accounting software, financial software, and management systems.

Knowledge of verifying and interpreting financial data and records.

Excellent communication skills.
