Impact Brewing – Quality Assurance Technician – Job Description

Under the direction of the Quality Manager and Focus Factory Managers, the Quality Assurance Technician will be responsible for performing quality measurements, checks and auditing processes throughout Impact Brews.

Schedule is: 12pm – 10pm

Production Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collect samples and perform analytical tests on products at all points of production, from initial water testing to packaged products.

• Work in conjunction with all departments to ensure quality products are being produced and packaged with traceability in mind.

• Assist in validation of new and existing quality control procedures, sanitation practices, and product testing.

• Work very closely with brewing/ blending & packaging department in rollout of new QC procedures and testing methods.

• Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment as well as accurate recordkeeping.

• Use, maintain and calibrate analytical equipment and instrumentation. Equipment includes but is not limited to: pH Meter, Seam Scanner, Pasteurization Unit Meter, Carbonation and Dissolved Oxygen Meters (c-DGM & c-TPOS), UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, and qPCR.

• Communicate consistently with all departments regarding quality assurance issues, holds and initiatives.

• Analyze production data and produce trends based on the data for continuous improvement.

• Train production employees on testing methods and frequencies and importance of testing.

• Propose, advocate, and initiate continuous quality and food safety improvement.

• Manage and maintain an organized and complete packaged product archive.

• Facilitate and create sensory panels for product testing and continual training of staff for off flavors and product consistency.

• Manage time and prioritize tasks appropriately

• Accurate and consistent record-keeping including but not limited to:

o Using SAP and Microsoft Suite

o Operating a desktop computer and a tablet device

o Transfer and process records

o Lab and QA/QC analytics

o Packaging records

o Tracking quality issues, holds and status

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Effective, constructive, and efficient coordination, communication, and collaboration with all members of Impact Brewing’s Staff, especially members of the Production Department.

• Cross-training/working in other areas of Impact Brewing production as needed.

• Conducting oneself in a professional manner when representing Impact Brewing, whether inside or outside of the brewery.

• Possible travel to conferences, expos, etc.

Physical Demands:

• Operate inside confined spaces

• Ability to regularly lift, push, or pull up to 165 pounds

• Possess the manual dexterity to operate hand tools

• Execute repetitive motions for long periods when necessary (packaging, etc.) Required to stand, crouch, lift and climb ladders

• Work at height

• Wear appropriate PPE for a given task

Requirements:

• Degree in science, analytical, or food related discipline and/or experience from which comparable skills and knowledge may have been achieved.

• Previous experience in a beverage, brewery, or food production facility preferred.

• Previous lab experience preferred.

• Ability to prioritize work.

• Skilled in data communication and analysis

• Proactive approach to troubleshooting and problem solving.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to operate heavy equipment in a safe manner, including but not limited to:

o Power Lifter

o Pallet Jacks (Manual and Powered)

o Fork Truck

o Scissor Lift

• 21 years of age or older

• Provide proof of eligibility to work in the USA
