The Immigration Center for Women and Children (ICWC) seeks a full-time Intake Coordinator to support our legal orientation programs at our office in downtown San Francisco. We provide legal orientations and assistance to unrepresented adults, children, and families appearing before the San Francisco Immigration Court. We are currently launching a new program for those harmed by the Trump administration’s practice of separating families at the border.

ICWC is a non-profit legal organization providing affordable immigration services to underrepresented immigrants. More information about ICWC is available at www.icwclaw.org.

Duties and responsibilities include:

• Providing information about removal proceedings to unrepresented respondents
• Answering incoming calls and assisting walk-ins to assess eligibility for ICH and FGLOP services
• Scheduling services with attorneys and legal assistants
• Translation of Spanish language documents for asylum applications
• Assisting with group orientations
• Conducting outreach to respondents with upcoming hearings
• Office upkeep: ordering supplies, contacting building management, etc.

Requirements:

• College degree
• Spanish language fluency required. Please indicate your language capacity in your application.

Other Qualifications:

• Experience in immigration law or another non-profit practice is preferred but not required
• Strong writing skills and meticulous attention to detail
• A demonstrated interest in low-income legal services and/or a commitment to immigrants' rights
• Ability to work effectively with survivors of trauma, domestic violence and sexual assault
• Ability to work effectively and communicate with representatives of the federal government, including staff at the immigrant court
