Responsibilities & Qualifications

The role manages cross-functional teams responsible for delivering defined project outputs on time, within budget and with quality results. The project manager plans, organizes, monitors, and oversees one or more projects to meet the defined requirements and business specifications. The role will work closely with IT Leadership to align the solution architecture strategy in guiding the functional design for each segment of the project. She/He will identify and collaborate with key stakeholders and resources on the project, providing direction as required to meet the objectives. She/He will ensure appropriate management of customer and vendor involvement throughout the life of the project.

This position will have direct responsibility for management of projects as part of the IT Team.

  • Determine project goals and priorities with IT Leadership, program managers, project sponsors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Support requirements as defined by IT Leadership and key stakeholders in driving successful program delivery.
  • Responsible for one or more projects within the project management team.
  • Co-create a project charter with the team, including the definition of completion criteria as needed.
  • Manage and communicate a clear vision of the project’s objectives and motivate the project team to achieve them; create a project environment that enables peak performance by team members.
  • Manage projects using agile and/or waterfall methodologies.
  • Organize the work into manageable activity clusters (phases) and determine an effective approach to completing the work.
  • Prepare and manage project plans with focus on comprehensiveness, timeliness, transparency, accuracy and accountability.
  • Compile a complete and accurate estimate of a project, with work breakdown structure.
  • Analyze risks, establish contingency plans and identify trigger events and responsibility for initiating mitigating action. Gather stakeholder input. Rank the top project risks in terms of total impact.
  • Track and report on progress to plan, cost and schedule reporting, and change control.
  • Negotiate the performance of activities with team members and their managers if operating in a matrix environment.
  • Recommend and partner in the selection of team members for comprehensive coverage of all key roles within the project. Will not have direct supervisory responsibility for project team members but provides performance input as directed. This position reports directly to the Sr. Director of IT PMO.

Essential qualifications

  • Tier 1 Business Intelligence project management experience
  • Tier 1 Application Integration project management experience
  • 7 years of progressive IT project management experience in both large and midsize, complex projects, and management of distributed project resource teams.
  • 7 years managing projects with collaborative toolsets (Smartsheet, MSProject, etc.)

  • Agility to quickly secure needed business acumen.
  • Skilled at requirements analysis and management.
  • Strong writing, mentoring, negotiation, communication, and meeting facilitation skills; ability to utilize a combination of formal authority and persuasion skill sets.
  • Ability to advise on complex matters to non-specialists.
  • Demonstrated ability in managing internal and external client expectations on project requirements and deliverables.
  • Tier 1-2 ERP/CRM project implementation management experience (SAP, Oracle, MS D365, Salesforce, NetSuite, Infor, IFS).

Ideal education

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • PMO Certification is a nice to have, but not essential
