Illinois Institute of Technology is Hiring a Transfer Credit and Articulation Analyst Near Chicago, IL

Reporting to the Director of Articulation & Transfer Systems, the Transfer Credit & Articulation Analyst works within the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. The role of the Analyst is to provide operational support for the articulation of courses, the evaluation of domestic college transcripts, the posting of course credit, maintaining course transfer rules in databases, validating student transfer credits, and researching accreditation and calendar systems as needed (quarters, semesters, etc) in an effort to streamline and standardize the transfer course process for undergraduate students.
The Analyst serves in a key role that contributes to the university’s success in transfer student recruitment, transfer admissions, advising, retention, and degree completion functions. In this role, the staff member will ensure transfer course articulation best practices, guidelines, and policies are executed and will rely heavily on the use of several systems and databases to perform day-to-day functions. These systems include but are not limited to the Transfer Evaluation System ( TES ), Transferology and Transferology Lab systems, iTransfer portal / Illinois Articulation Initiative ( IAI ) and similar state-wide articulation systems, Ellucian BANNER and DegreeWorks, and TargetX CRM .
The Analyst will be knowledgeable on the functional and broader technical aspects of transcript evaluation processes, transfer course articulation, various transfer articulation and accreditation data sites, undergraduate course catalogs and course components, and have a broad understanding of general education coursework and the requirements needed to map course-to-course equivalencies.
Special Schedule Requirements
The nature of the position will require a schedule from 8:30am-5pm on weekdays and will allow for a remote work arrangement in accordance with the University’s Remote Work Guidelines and Policies for Staff.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
Required qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
2-3 years of administrative work experience involving the study, analysis, and/or evaluation of policy, credentials, or records leading to the development, improvement or maintenance of systems, procedures or practices
Strong analytical, research, organizational, and computer skills
Ability to understand, explain, and apply complex policies, rules, and guidelines
Demonstrated experience in customer service within an academic or professional environment
Preferred qualifications:
Master’s Degree
3 years of previous work experience in college transfer admissions, transfer student advising, transfer articulation, or serving on a transcript evaluation team within a Registrar & Records Office
Experience with systems and procedures related to transfer course articulation and the application of statewide and institutional policies that govern transfer
Ability to work effectively and independently with evidence in making professional judgments
Broad understanding or demonstrated usage of transfer technologies, relational databases, and/or rule-based systems
Knowledge & Skills
General knowledge or demonstrated usage will be beneficial in the technologies and systems that will apply to this position:
Transfer Evaluation System ( TES ), Transferology, iTransfer portal & IAI – Illinois Articulation Initiative (i.e. Statewide articulation policy & transfer initiatives), Ellucian BANNER (or similar SIS and relational database), Ellucian DegreeWorks (or similar degree auditing system), Target X (i.e. CRM systems). The position requires a high degree of analysis to maintain accurate and up-to-date business processes, transfer records, and the enforcement of course articulation rules.
Certifications and Licenses
List any certifications or licenses that are either required or helpful in performing the job, designating whether required or preferred.
TES Basic Certification, or TES Administrator Certification is preferred but not required.

Coordinate the assessment of college courses to determine transferability opportunities by using multiple systems and working with faculty & staff to implement and maintain decisions; analyze and maintain course equivalency tables and data. Evaluate official college transcripts, process external coursework for transfer credit, and validate data for accuracy. Build and maintain course equivalency rules in the Transfer Evaluation System ( TES ), support the TES evaluation workflow process, and monitor rule applicability across several systems. Research and pursue opportunities with stakeholders to grow external course credit acceptance; support the decision making process related to complex equivalencies; posting of courses for credit and validating course data on transfer records; provide articulation assistance to students, faculty, and administrative personnel as needed regarding the status of transfer coursework acceptance to degree programs, general education review, and the application of other academic transfer policies.

Key Responsibility
Research, troubleshoot, and resolve course articulation and transfer credit system related issues and processes supported by Undergraduate Admissions. Serve as a resource and point of contact for transfer policy and external course credit related questions. Support the development & decision-making processes of policies and procedures for the acceptance of courses for credit. Maintain current and accurate knowledge of sending and receiving course offerings, policies, and procedures. Provide articulation information and manage inquiries from students, admission counselors, advisors, and faculty regarding course credit and equivalents. Perform course by course external credit evaluations by determining credit to be granted toward meeting specific requirements, determine equivalency of courses taken at other colleges and institutions: coordinate, obtain, and verify information as appropriate; use analytical skills to research and articulate courses using university guidelines. Verify external credit programs’ rigor and impact on accreditation and verify accreditation of other institutions from which credits were earned. Interpret level, content, unit value, unit conversions, transferability, and grading systems of external courses.

Key Responsibility
Serve as a liaison with other institutions and faculty in order to review external course articulations as needed. Research and develop community college degree pathways by leveraging course articulation system functionality in TES and Transferology to create and publicize degree completion pathways for transfer students.
Serve as a resource to campus stakeholders involved in the Illinois Articulation Initiative ( IAI ) course submission and maintenance process. Seek opportunities to automate and streamline the processing of external course credit. Provide excellent service to students, staff, faculty, and other constituents while observing FERPA regulations. Develop documents to assist in the external credit process and provide general training/demos to other staff on basic user functions in systems to support transfer student recruitment, admissions, and advising. Assist with creating and curating content for the Transfer Credit Evaluation website and TES /Transferology web portals. Work in compliance with Illinois Articulation Initiative ( IAI ) general education requirements when working with undergraduate transfer credit evaluation. Attending and engaging in articulation and professional development opportunities both on and off campus (i.e. Transfer Articulation and Tech Conference, AACRAO conferences and meetings, CollegeSource workshops and conferences, itransfer/ IAI meetings, MyCreditsTransfer Illinois, etc.) Serve as a representative for transfer & articulation (as needed) to promote Illinois Tech as a receiving institution for transfer students and students with course credit. Assist with articulation system testing when needed to provide quality assurance of processes.
