IES Abroad is Hiring an Assistant College Relations Manager Near Chicago, IL

Status: Full-time, exempt

Schedule: M-F, 8.30a.m. - 4.30p.m., including occasional evening and weekend work and approximately 30% travel based on seasonal business needs and position requirements.

Reports to: Senior College Relations Manager

Summary of position:

The College Relations Assistant position is for assisting College Relations Managers in their three primary functions: to recruit students to apply and attend IES Abroad programs; to provide top quality pre-departure advising, preparation, and service for all IES Abroad students; and to provide high quality service and to manage relationships with U.S. colleges and universities in the IES Abroad consortium.

The Assistant is responsible for supporting the various aspects of college relations for designated schools, prospective applicants to IES Abroad programs, completing data entry related to departmental activities, and supporting projects within the department.

Essential job responsibilities & duties:

  • Support College Relations Managers with tasks to recruit student applicants and enrollees.
  • Respond to prospect questions and requests in a timely manner.
  • Support College Relations Managers wtih study abroad advisor questions and requests and respond in a timely manner.
  • Support College Relations Managers with student application follow up, reporting projects, and presentations with designated schools.
  • Support College Relations initiatives in coordination with College Relations Managers at designated schools.
  • Entering student information into database.
  • Conduct recruitment events in coordination with College Relations Managers at designated schools as needed.
  • Student engagement (recruitment) events (e.g.: Greek life; school clubs, etc.) as appropriate.
  • Serve as part of a rotating group of staff handling after-hours calls.
  • Maintain excellent records of all communications, utilizing database and web technology in all daily functions.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Commit to and demonstrate values and promotion of diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned or required.

Experience & Qualifications/Skills:

  • 1-2 years of experience in the field of study abroad or related experience in higher education preferred.
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent Excel spreadsheet, Microsoft Office, and database skills.
  • Ability to prepare and present effective presentations
  • Strong customer service skills and focus
  • Ability to travel 15%
  • Ability to work with social media.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team comprised of Chicago-based and field-based staff
  • Exceptional team player: proactive and responsible, with the ability to learn rapidly
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to handle/manage high call and email volume
  • Passion for embracing business process improvement opportunities
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • High level of enthusiasm , energy, flexibility and diplomacy
  • Friendly phone presence
  • Ability to demonstrate values and promotion of diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism required.
  • Personal study abroad experience preferred
  • Enthusiasm for study abroad.

Education, Licenses and/or Certifications etc:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Must have valid US Driver's license and ability and willingness to drive as required.
