IEEE is Hiring a Digital Asset and Editorial Support Process Manager (E5747) Near Piscataway, NJ

Job Summary
The overall purpose of this position is to manage processes for the digital assets and articles, provide in-house staff support for post-conversion processes, and help desk support to Staff Editors, Authors, and Volunteers to produce best-in-class journal production.
The incumbent in this position is expected to partner with Publishing Technology staff, Sr Manager Digital Asset, and editorial support on assigned projects and create, monitor, and refine automated processes, troubleshoot and resolve complex issues, and implement procedural changes as appropriate and will have authoritative responsibility for digital assets in the absence of Associate Director Digital Assets & Editorial Support.
This position reports to the Associate Director, Digital Assets & Editorial Support, and will not have any direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
  • Works with Associate Director and Sr Manager Digital Assets and Editorial Support for development, enhancement plans, business prioritization, market delivery, and related business and operational processes.
  • Continuously assesses existing workflow processes and suggests change through process improvements.
  • Provides help desk support for Editorial Staff and Authors, timely closing all open issues. Works closely with the Digital Assets and Editorial Support team to resolve complex issues.
  • Provides detailed user stories for enhancing internal applications and workflows and also UAT them.
  • Provide support to ensure the timely and accurate production of IEEE Transactions and Journals in both print and online formats.
  • Continuously monitors progress and status of editorial services release activities, milestones, deliverables, and business impacts.
  • Work involves creative and adaptive thinking. Resolves non-routine problems by applying general policies, practices, procedures, and principles. Timely escalate the issues to the Pub Tech team or help desk for resolution as needed.
  • Act as backup for Senior Manager Digital Asset and Editorial Support, when necessary to answer questions from editorial staff, solve problems that are of an immediate nature, and attend Scrum team meetings as needed.
  • Keeps current with developments in XML or future Markup Language deployment and usage, and keeps current with the use of XML editing/composition software and content workflow systems.
  • Assist staff in XML, and math tagging, to meet IEEE standards of quality for archival material and style in accordance with IEEE DTDs.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Curates IEEE digital content in the IDAMS data repository/archive and exports IDAMS content according to prescribed time guidelines to IEEE Xplore® or any future online platform, products, or services that make use of this content

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Bachelor’s degree in Publishing Technology and some technical background is required. Knowledge of publishing processes and automation, with an emphasis on XML (and associated FOSIs and DTDs), Word, TeX and LaTeX, composition software, databases, PostScript, and PDF file creation. Req

  • Must be a technologically savvy knowledge worker who seeks out technology solutions to business challenges and applies the benefits of technology to his or her work environment. Must be proficient in both online and print publishing processes and must possess an excellent knowledge of XML-based publishing workflows and systems, including systems used for editing/composition.Position requires excellent written and oral communication skills in order to judge quality of editing and communicate effectively with customers, staff and vendors. Experience in Publishing industry preferred but not required.Requires excellent management and organizational skills to meet requirements for managing staff and external vendors.Ability to interact and work with technical teams.Individuals with strong excel background and experience in working in Documentum based applications preferred
